My daughter went swimming with school today and while she was in the pool somehow another child from a DIFFERENT school in another part of NOTTINGHAM has taken her size 1 suede Clarks boots. She returned to school in a random pair of 12 1/2 black leather boots, they must have really hurt her little feet bless her..I have phoned the school in question and the swimming baths, I have had to come out of work to get her some other shoes. Am I being unreasonable to think she should be able to go swimming and come back in her own boots? opinions very welcome...

The boots do not look the same, they are a size and half bigger, suede not leather and are totally different in style. Yes the child has made a mistake, as I have said I am not upset with the child, Anyway my daughters school have just phoned, they are being returned this afternoon, so that's a nice happy ending, thank you to all for your comments.

If your dd's boots have her name labelled clearly in them then surely your school can get in contacts tight the other one and explain.

Is there a name in the pair that you currently have? That will make it al lot more straightforward.

Next time do you have a bigger bag that your dd can take that everything including her footwear can go in?

Ilovetobiteyourneck · 01/12/2014 14:09

I'd say you are mostly NBU, but as we all know, these things do happen. I'd be fuming, but there's not a lot you can do that you haven't already done so I'd say it's now time for deep breaths and some zen-like acceptance.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/12/2014 14:09

Cross posts. Glad it's been sorted.

Think about a bigger bag.

BuzzardBird · 01/12/2014 14:12

It's a Christmas miracle! :)

BigRedBall · 01/12/2014 14:14

It sounds so bizarre! Why on earth would another child take a pair of shoes that don't even fit and then return them at the end of the day?! Sounds like a mischievous monkey to me.

LucilleHendrix · 01/12/2014 14:15

Much -her bag is fine, they were left on the bench like every other persons
thank you to Darkest, Buzzard and all the other kind responses/ suggestions...

LucilleHendrix · 01/12/2014 14:17

Big red ball - hope it was the monkey, it was a lot of messing about, but at least it is solved ... like someone up post said children do these things..
Buzzard :) love your positive out look, just glad it is sorted.

That is a miracle, when this happened to my dd, we never saw the nice new pair again, only got left with the old tattered ones. And they were labelled!

For those saying don't fuss, Clarks boots for children are blinking expensive and you don't expect to have to buy them twice in a season. I was annoyed enough about the school shoes.

Big buckets are the way to help combat this. The plastic toy storage/garden waste ones. Each child has a bucket. All clothes go in swim bag that's put on the bottom, coat then towel, finally shoes on top or easily accessible down the side. (Shoes and towel are then easy to get to if there is a fire alarm and hands can be dried before getting clothes from kit bag.) The bucket is then taken pool side if there is room. Things shouldn't get lost between schools then.

Maybe a suggestion to the pool they use?

LucilleHendrix · 01/12/2014 15:51

Thank you for the support posts, yy to the big buckets great idea, I will suggest that at the feedback meeting in the morning...

When I said about her bag, I meant to put her shoes/boots in rather than them being left on the bench.

The bucket idea is great but will require spending by the school or swimming pool which will take time to organise. Having her own big enough bag doesn't rely on anybody else or their budget.

weresquirrel · 01/12/2014 19:01

Sounds like the other kid took them on purpose. Why would another kid wonder over to a pile of clothes in another section of the changing room, see that the clothes are not theirs and then "accidentally" put on the brand new, expsensive boots underneath said clothes. And whoever took them must have been either the same age/shoe size as your daughter or an adult. Doesn't sound very accidental to me Hmm.

ThePinkOcelot · 01/12/2014 19:06

This happened a couple of times when my dds were younger. Once dd2 came back with odd sized boots! They were exactly the same though, so easy mistake to make. The TA actually asked me if I was sure I had bought the same size boots! Ehhhh yes!

Rooberoobe · 01/12/2014 19:06

This is the type of bucket I mean or any box with handles really as they are easier to carry.
