Yes, I know it's been done to death.

I dashed into the supermarket on the way to school this morning. Small (could easily pass for 2 and 5) 3 and 6 year olds in tow, and I am (very obviously) 38 weeks pregnant. I parked in a parent & child space.

When I came out, I was accosted by a lady with an 18 month-ish old in a buggy, telling me that I shouldn't have parked there, they were only for parents of young children in pushchairs, and mine were too old. There were several other p&c spaces free at the time (and I assume she had also parked in one). But I had nabbed the one closest to the door Grin.

I gave her my very best withering look.

In our local sainsburys there a sign saying spaces for people with children under 12.
You were fine!

Where are you exactly Bulbasaur? I can only think it's the 1950s judging by your use of "handicap spaces"

US, and we do still call them handicap spaces here, it's written right on the signs. No disrespect intended.

Fair enough Bulbasaur, just jarred me that is all!

Don't agree with pregnant people using them myself but that's a whole different fight club thread Smile

I had a row with a woman the other day about p&c parking.... It started off with her just dumping her trolly right in the way so I had to struggle around it to get DS1 (13 months) into his car seat.

So I mutter a sarky comment about not bothering to put her trolley back and then clock there weren't even any bloody kids in the car.... Well let's just say I got a bit more sarky - and it was in a Waitrose carpark!

Two young children need the safety of the walkway to the store more than a toddler in a buggy!! YWDNBU

Well, to be fair, I really haven't seen anyone taking advantage of it. Most pregnant women just use if they really need them. I never used them because I was perfectly capable of walking a bit further.

I should clarify this is for stores, not streets. We don't have parking problems over here, we have an abundance of spaces for everyone. So a temporary spot in a store parking lot for an hour or two isn't going to put someone out.
