AIBU?

To think that ASDA shouldn't be selling Guardians of the Galaxy clothes for 2-3 year olds?

I went to ASDA at the weekend and was quite taken aback to see that they are selling Guardians of the Galaxy t-shirts for two year olds. I also saw pyjamas in age 4-5. The film is rated a 12 certificate so why on earth are ASDA promoting the film to young children?

I would never let my DSs (7 and 9) watch the film at this age but there is a cartoon too and they will watch that (when they discover it on the sky planner).

Ah, OK angel. It was because you put it right before YABU that I thought it was your reason for saying YABU.

My mistake also Adam-I haven't seen it yet but ds(16) has.

Before the film came out I'd never heard of it!

Get ready for next year-Star Wars 7,Jurassic world etc.....

It's all about making money & you can't just pin it on one film-it happens with loads of other films/franchises.

At Halloween many kids dress up as freddy/Jason/scream & I'm sure they're 15/18 certificates!

I saw it, really enjoyed it (though didn't take a child unless you count the one inside me, and I'm pretty sure it slept through the lot . . .)

For anyone who wants to know why it's a 12A, the BBFC info is here (under the section marked 'Insight').

The language is pretty ripe!

I did want to see it when I found out vin diesel was in it-then ds informed me he's a treeHmm

Smoorikins · 01/12/2014 13:23

Yes, he is a tree, and he is FABULOUS.

The tree was our favourite character Smile

Though not much use if you were hoping for Vin Diesel eye candy.

The film was fab, we all watched it together again night before last -there was bad language - but it was usually when the surrounding noise was loud - so not particularly noticeable. In places we were laughing so much we were crying. It really is a great film.

what colour will Zoe Saldana play next... blue, green..... any purple aliens coming up...

And Vin is at his sexiest... as Groooooot Grin so funny...

I took my five and seven year olds to see it. The five year old wasn't bothered but the seven year old loved it.

I'm more worried about the Halo MegaBlocks TBH.

As others have said, no one looks twice at children dressing up as Spiderman or Batman.

Oops sorry its Marvel Avengers and its on DisneyXD

It made me have unwholesome thoughts about a raccoon (but he IS voiced by Bradley Cooper). It was a 12A at the cinema & DS(9) loved it, but they do tone it down loads for the cartoon.

My boys age 6 & 8 loved it. They watch lots of 12A films, even some 15s such as Gremlins, would you not buy spiderman or star wars stuff either? They have loved those films/characters since they were 2 or 3 YO so we bought clothes with that stuff on.

If you don't like it don't let your DCs watch it, I really can't see the issue, each to their own. This is not really an AIBU as you think you are not so you are not actually asking for opinions.

My kids love superheroes but won't see film versions until they are much, much older. My 2 year old has been putting Green Goblin to sleep with a kiss and Spider-Man asks him to come and play on Peppa Pig's swings. They all have jolly old picnics and Iron Man is their dad!

My 3yo DS loves it - he's obsessed with Rocket and Groot, because he's 3 and he sees a talking raccoon and a talking tree and he thinks it's the best thing ever. No harm in that at all. I'll be trundling off to Asda first thing! Grin

My 4yo has seen it and loves it. The language was a bit off but the rest is fine imo. Am going to go to asda tomorrow to pick some new clothes up for him Grin

Mind you, looking at the Asda T shirt, I'm annoyed that yet again Gamora has been omitted. She's just as badass as the other characters, yet they seem to think she doesn't belong on 'boys' clothing.
