AIBU?

to call her out on this?

Someone I know has recently made some serious life changes. I can't really go in to details as it will out her and me, as some of you will know her story. Suffice it to say her life is now completely different to what it was six months ago. That's not my problem (and before anyone suggests otherwise, I'm neither jealous of her life nor unhappy with my own). In fact, some of the changes I would have positively encouraged!

My problem is that she's told a web of lies about how the changes came about. There are several different versions of each story she tells, all designed to get the reaction she wants from the people she's telling. She blogs, and recently her blogs have been a bit OTT. She's giving off all these wonderful highly moral stances and claims to be trying to educate people, but in reality she isn't giving everyone the full details. One of the big things that's bugging me is the fact she's deliberately disguising how long her 'life changes' have been going on for. She making it sound like it's been a long drawn-out and considered process, but in reality it's been 6 months. Opinions on what she's doing would change drastically if people knew the genuine time frame.

WIBU to call her out on it?

Is this op about a mumnetter then or even a mnet blogger? If so this is bad form, she will probably see this just speak to her about it if it bothers you that much.

Has she made a rather large change in her identity recently OP? I can only go with similar experiences I've had recently about something that may or not be similar and say you may just have to leave them to it. You can never really tell what is going on in people's heads and can never prove which version is the reality of other people's lives, and unless it's directly causing harm you should just allow others to take whatever positivity they are taking from the situation and let the rest pass you by. I get that if you know for sure she is fabricating details its really annoying for you but you have to weigh up the gain you would get from challenging this. Would it help others to know the truth? Would it be worth the fall out?

Ihate

Not who I thought it was then!

I can see why it annoys you, it would me. But I can't see how you can tackle it without it potentially painting you in a dim light. Unfairly so.

I don't understand why you are allowing this to bother you or why you want to take her down a peg or two. You sound jealous of the attention she is getting to be honest. how well do you know this person?

It's pretty obvious who this thread is about, I think this man needs to crawl back into whatever hole he crawled out of. Mnet is a supportive site, it's not somewhere to air or bring a personal grievance.

I'm not Joe. I don't know who Joe is. The person I'm talking about doesn't frequent AIBU, so wouldn't see this. This is far from my first post, but I willingly admit I have name changed.

Whatever you think this might be about, maybe you're looking for issues where there aren't any? Or possibly being too defensive?

If you feel so strongly about it, I'd be inclined to speak to her directly. I'm sure she'll be very flattered that you think so highly of her "status" that you felt compelled to post about it. If you feel the need to say something to her, have the courage to do so directly

Well that's me told then.

Constructive, thanks. No, really I'm glad I posted. It seems people are out looking for problems. Maybe it says more about them than me. Maybe it doesn't.

Pols80 I've just read your blog. You think I was talking about you? Does that say more about you or me?

You read my blog and suddenly think that my advice to speak directly to the person means I think it's me? That's a bit of a stretch!

If you don't know your friend's name on here, how do you know she doesn't frequent AIBU?

Is this a roundabout advert for the blog? Are you talking about yourself OP and trying to get us all intrigued? Wink

Greetings puddle jumper :-) tis I, the infamous Joe! Yes, the poor unfortunate that had his night ruined having to defend himself against the absurdity of my supposed dual life as the bruised banana fellow!
Low and behold I come on here, when it's all calm and find I've been outed as a trouble maker, by someone that doesn't know me, or is it another poster further down with a split personality?
I am not the hater of bruised bananas. I quite like them! I didn't go behind anyone's back. She'll tell you I'm quite capable of telling her to her face, what I think of her. Ask her, she has posted here.
Please refrain from using my name in these forums. I don't use the names of the guilty!
Fair trial people? Kangaroo court, more like? I have an opinion. I've kept it to myself. Haven't blogged it. Like to keep it private.
Please stop pointing fingers like we are in infant school. As I said last night Mrs X. Not me! Got a life thanks.

This is all about as clear as mud.

Perhaps people could stop talking in riddles and actually say what they mean, makes the world and life much simpler and more enjoyable.

Meh. Once I realised it was just internal whinging about MN blogs I lost all interest. If someone has a problem with what someone else is blogging, they can take it up with the person directly, or take it up with MNHQ if they think it's that serious. Either way, we don't need a thread about it.
