AIBU - frozen instead of Christmas

Basically my daughter is currently a long-term patient in hospital and we will most likely be here for Christmas , I was devastated as it's her first and we are big On Christmas.

Anyway, the other day there was Olaf and Anna paintings in the cupboards in the playrooms.
And when I said Awhh they cute , the play specialist informed me that Christmas theme had been changed to frozen theme to avoid offence.

Am I being unreasonable to think this isn't really fair on the children who are here and want Xmas.
To avoid offending people your offending others ?

Are you sure it wasn't just because every child on the entire planet loves Frozen?

rocketeer · 24/11/2014 22:52

Sorry, I don't believe a word of this. Ds2 spent last Christmas in hospital in what turned out to be a very multicultural ward and not one person complained/was negative at all about the festivities. If you really believe that your hospital said this then please name them. Doubt you will though

ghostyslovesheep · 24/11/2014 22:57

seriously HQ Hmm THAT'S what you chose to edit!

slightlyworriednc · 24/11/2014 23:07

What a load of old shit. This has been going for years, I remember rumours that they were changing Christmas to Winterval in the 90s ' so as not to offend'.
It's bollox op. You may not be trolling but the hospital playworker is. Of course she 'wasn't happy either' - she's stirring up racial hatred, she isn't meant to look happy!
Cancelling Christmas 'cos of the immigrants' is a well established Urban legend.

Lots of places have used Frozen in their Christmas decs- because it's, you know, Christmassy!

Rudolphanddancer · 24/11/2014 23:10

As I said this was only what I got told !

I don't know how true it is.

By the way I didn't indulge in a convo with her I don't have issues with race, I actually like the diversity of our country.

I always read stories about school nativity plays etc and think it's crap ! So I was actually shocked to hear what she said about this hospital

And no I won't name the hospital as would you give your address out on a public forum ?

OP posts:
rocketeer · 24/11/2014 23:17

It's not giving out your address. Hospitals cover a wide area. The hospital needs to be informed of the member of staff who has told you this. Sorry but it reads like a massive urban myth.

slightlyworriednc · 24/11/2014 23:21

If you don't know how true it is, then don't perpetuate the myth on a public forum.

Rudolphanddancer · 24/11/2014 23:37

We do live here practically ha my post was nothing about other religions was just gasped at it m and I actually did talk to a nurse and she said what I wrote above that Xmas trees are the des rerun f the wards manager and they had one last year but that is what the play specialist said about the Xmas party and decorations.

Lovely, it's started. I must remember to call my friend, who is Jewish, this week. We always get to have a laugh about the fact that some people think that little old Atheist me and Jewish her want to cancel Christmas. Au contraire, we celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas, frequently inviting Muslim friends.

I have never met a person who was offended by Christmas. Bored, annoyed, skint, peeved and Scroogey but not offended.

Spend a fun time on Snopes looking at 'banned Christmas' myths and similar.

nocoolnamesleft · 25/11/2014 03:00

Well...on our local children's ward, for many years now santa has been played by one of the Muslim doctors...

Writerwannabe83 · 25/11/2014 06:41

When I last worked a Christmas Day shift we had a Santa and a sleigh and the Santa went round giving presents to the children. The best bit though was that we had a real life reindeer!!!! It came onto the children's unit and visited all three children's wards, it was just amazing!!

Good! It's a happy thread when we can all come to the conclusion that what looks like a load of bollocks, is a load of bollocks. Hope that's helped calm your fears, op, the play specialist was lying.
