After what she has tweeted about David Cameron. here

Like him or loathe him to describe the way he talks about his deceased son as 'misty eyed' and used for political gain is disgusting.

The greatest loss any of us can imagine is the loss of a child. Shock horror, even politician have real feeling. It's just awful that she would say that about another parent.

I don't care what she can do with a bloody lentil. Something's are just too low.

Has anyone here disputed that both DC and Sam C were (and are) genuinely bereaved and grief-stricken when they lost their son? Not that I've seen. This thread isn't doubting their grief, it's questioning the way that DC has used his grief in a political context, to dismiss the legitimate concerns of other disabled people and their carers.

Of course Sam would cry over her lost child. That isn't the issue here, and god knows everyone here - whatever they feel about DC's politics - would feel for her. What is the issue is that her grief, and DC's grief, is not a reason for anyone to stop questioning what DC is doing to the NHS.

How about you 'quit with' the rudeness meechimoo? The conference speech was certainly premeditated but it was quite some time ago and it wasn't a debate. He was completely playing to the stall (or the TV cameras) that time and it was extremely cynical but not an attempt to shut down debate since there was no debate going on. Your are just introducing a red herring in an attempt to close down this discussion - that together with the rudeness showing a remarkable adherence to the Cameron playbook.

It's Miliband's job to question what is happening to the NHS and to people with disabilities no matter what has happened to David Cameron and his family.

ArcheryAnnie · 25/11/2014 09:38

It's all our job, TheBogQueen, but when we see that we can be villified by a national newspaper, and lose our jobs if we do so, then that makes it a lot more difficult.

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 25/11/2014 09:39

It is. But unfortunately or fortunately he's not as revolting as DC and he seems to have more respect for DC's family than DC does himself.

Sarah Vine's piece is interesting (if as repulsive as you'd exoect). She doesn't seem to understand the difference between stimulating debate - which is what JM has done throughout her brief career - and shutting it down.

I don't particularly like JM for a number of reasons, but she has done nothing wrong and the way she has been pilloried is outrageous.

Samcro · 25/11/2014 09:42

imagine if Ed had come back and said what dc said wasn't relevant??
he would have been slated more than DC
DC knew this
so he used it.
ED couldn't win, no one could

Neverbuyheliumbalonz · 25/11/2014 09:42

Wow, I'm no fan of Jack Monroe but I have just read Sarah Vine's DM article - the question of how Michael Gove ever managed to find a mate has finally been answered. What. A. Cunt.

ArcheryAnnie · 25/11/2014 09:43

Okay - switching to another supermarket will be a pain (I pass sainsburys every day), but have alternative plan in action! (Waitrose, which will hurt my wallet but which will ease my conscience a bit. Penguin trafficking aside.)

Celticlass2 · 25/11/2014 09:44

Wow,- Sarah Vine. What a piece of work.

Celticlass2 · 25/11/2014 09:47

Can somebody fill me in about the Sainsburys ad please? I obviously haven't seen it, and am intrigued.
Also what's the connection with Jack Monroe?

TheBogQueen · 25/11/2014 09:50

No - it's Milliband's job as leader of the opposition to represent the people who voted for his party. That's what he is paid to do.

What else should we do? Allow Cameron to behave with impunity over the NHS and people with disabilities because he brings up a personal tragedy?

He needs to be held to account- otherwise who is running this country? Our elected representatives or the Daily Mail?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 25/11/2014 09:50

Oh Annie save yourself the horror, don't boycott, they won't notice or even care!

ArcheryAnnie · 25/11/2014 09:56

I'm doing it for my own peace of mind and satisfaction, Lovley, not because I imagine that a massive company care whether I buy my tins of tomatoes from them! (My supermarket shop isn't very big anyway, happily, so I can manage the small hike that waitrose will cost me.)

Samcro · 25/11/2014 10:02

'What else should we do? Allow Cameron to behave with impunity over the NHS and people with disabilities because he brings up a personal tragedy? '

you only have to read this thread, or the last one to see how many people think that DC bringing it up is ok and should not be challenged

SuburbanRhonda · 25/11/2014 10:03

I'm still wondering what responses people would propose should be used when they say it is possible to continue a debate or discussion after someone has invoked the memory of their dead child.

Just one or two suggestions would do, because I'm damned if I can think of anything anyone could come back with.

Samcro · 25/11/2014 10:04

me neither

chopinbabe · 25/11/2014 10:07

She has whined about her life, putting out all sorts of details in order to advance her career. She had no problem with that: we know more about all her tribulations than we ever needed to know and if her son had been seriously ill, no doubt we would have heard all about that too.

Now, a nasty shot about how a man deals with the death of his child. 'Misty eyed': she really is one cheeky, insensitive cock. Only surprised that she didn't refer to his wife as being 'misty eyed' , as she was when she listened to her husband's speech.

Is that because this media savvy manipulating cheap cook knew that that would be a step too far?

EveDallasRetd · 25/11/2014 10:11

Jack has just confirmed on Twitter that Sainsburys have not sucked her - unless they have done so without telling her.

Don't Rush to boycott just yet.

EveDallasRetd · 25/11/2014 10:14

NOT SACKED HER.....FFs autocorrect Grin

fromparistoberlin73 · 25/11/2014 10:14

Twitter is evil, I am sure that neither JM, DC are SamC are especially happy today. It cant be pleasant to have mass vitroil

Sarah Vine- yet another person using her JOB to spout personal opinion. ERGHHHHH

think before you tweet I say

chopinbabe · 25/11/2014 10:14

Well, hopefully they will rectify that pronto via twitter.

EveDallasRetd · 25/11/2014 10:16

Chopin, so Jack Monroe is able to see into the future is she? A clairvoyant as well as a food blogger. Cool. Wish I was her Grin

OnlyLovers · 25/11/2014 10:17

Meech, in the context of whether or not David Cameron uses his personal experience to shut down debate, what is your take on this quote from him: 'I don't need lectures from anyone about looking after disabled people. I don't want to hear any more of that.'?
