After what she has tweeted about David Cameron. here

Like him or loathe him to describe the way he talks about his deceased son as 'misty eyed' and used for political gain is disgusting.

The greatest loss any of us can imagine is the loss of a child. Shock horror, even politician have real feeling. It's just awful that she would say that about another parent.

I don't care what she can do with a bloody lentil. Something's are just too low.

I think if DC didn't mention Ivan in situations which are directly related to being in a caring role or living with a child with SN he could very easily be accused of being ashamed of him. Like the rich of yesteryear putting their mentally ill or SN relatives in institutions or shutting them away. He's treading a very fine line between keeping his memory alive and wanting to talk about his little boy, whilst also risking these sorts of comments. He must know that. I still remember the thread soon after SamCam announced her last pregnancy, plenty of horrible comments about how they were trying to 'replace' their son Hmm His loss does seem to have been fair game for a long long time.

Debate is great and his position does need to be challenged, but talking about people's 'dead' kids on Twitter isn't the way to encourage reasoned and measured debate.

Privatising part of the QMC in nottingham is the best thing that's happened to the hospital.

Not in my experience it isn't! I was one of the first patients through the door of that Circle health care building and could see where money had been pissed up the wall! Not to mention going into theatre to be anaesthetised and having to dodge the last patient's blood that was still on the floor!

QueenTilly · 24/11/2014 15:20

How is it hypocritical, aermingers?

She complained about how he shuts debate down.

Then people wished her child would die. And the thing you're complaining about is what? That she publicised what they'd said? You're complaining that you know and she didn't keep the abuse quiet?

OnlyLovers · 24/11/2014 15:22

aermingers, no one objects to DC saying that his family uses public services. Hmm

What people object to is that he has invoked his personal experiences to essentially guilt-trip the shadow cabinet and shut down debate about NHS funding or management.

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/11/2014 15:22

aermingers

As far as I can see no one has "taunted" anyone about their dead child.

aermingers · 24/11/2014 15:27

Chunderella you have just perfectly encapsulated what I mean about the left. Thank you. You are taking great offence about remarks based on gender or sexuality. Yet you do not believe that other people have the right to be offended by what Monroe has said.

You reserve the right be offended but you're happy for other people to be offended as long as your sacred cows aren't touched.

What Monroe said was designed to hurt and insult, just like the abusive tweets that have been sent to her. They have exactly the same motivation, pure spite.

ModernToss · 24/11/2014 15:30

Agree 100% with Jack Monroe, and am baffled at those who equate making a political point with which they disagree with misogynist, homophobic abuse (that actually wished her child dead).

aermingers · 24/11/2014 15:34

How is complaining about a policy which was introduced by a party you actively promote not hypocritical?

Jack Monroe's entire career is based on sharing her and her child's personal experiences to make a political point yet she feels justified in criticising Cameron for doing the same thing. The woman is a monumental hypocrite.

And the 'shutting down debate' thing is nonsense. It anybody felt that they couldn't debate the NHS because of a remark in a speech they would have to be a monumental idiot who would't have the brain power to take part in such a debate anyway.

Well done ModernToss! Another one. I have the right to be offended because I'm PC but nobody else does.

I do think people are forgetting that he is the most powerful man in this country.
yet he uses his personal grief to shut down debate.

I don't use twitter,don't understand it.
but do find it strange that whilst defending scameron, people are calling this woman names

MrSheen · 24/11/2014 15:47

Either that or they know they would be the victim of career ending 'heartless bastard' jibes. It does shut down the debate, we've all seen it happen (at least those of us who watch debates, pmqs etc.)

QueenTilly · 24/11/2014 15:48

The tweet we are discussing does not complain about that, does it? It calls DC out on poor discussion practices. To wit, emotional guilt-tripping to shut down debate.

Are you reading your own posts? Look at how you're criticising JM for not keeping it quiet that she was tweeted homophobic abuse, and ill-wishing, just because she called DC out on his remarks in PMQs!

EveDallasRetd · 24/11/2014 16:07

Jack's not the only one uneasy with the way Cameron 'uses' his son sturdyblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/12/we-need-to-talk-about-ivan/

seagull70 · 24/11/2014 16:09

She wasn't 'mocking' his grief.

She was criticising him for using the death of his son to shut down debate, theres a big difference.

It's pretty terrifying to think that he uses it and gets away with it so often.

I'm sure many people have thought it, few have been brave enough to call him on it though.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

LeopardInABobbleHat · 24/11/2014 16:17

It's what posters on here have been deleted for saying many times. Good on her for expressing that view if that's how she sees it. Plenty of people agree with her.

Samcro · 24/11/2014 16:24

"Are you reading your own posts? Look at how you're criticising JM for not keeping it quiet that she was tweeted homophobic abuse, and ill-wishing, just because she called DC out on his remarks in PMQs!"

i posted that I have no idea who she is and don't use twitter, so I am only commenting on what has been linked on here.
and in this case she was right

limitedperiodonly · 24/11/2014 16:32

LeopardInABobbleHat Did you see the thread a week or two ago on the same subject?

That was full of deletions at the beginning. I think the person responsible was well-meaning but misguided. After a discussion with other people at MNHQ, the thread continued with hardly any deletions, if at all.

I think it's a good idea for them not to intervene in this thread. I'm sure they're monitoring it, but I don't think anyone has been hurtful in criticising David Cameron.

They're playing the ball, not the man.

QueenTilly · 24/11/2014 16:34

x-post samcro

I was talking to Aermingers.

limitedperiodonly · 24/11/2014 16:34

I'd add that I've noticed a few personal comments here about Jack Monroe.

I wouldn't dream of reporting them. From the little that I know about her I guess she might not bother either.
