to think you can only have a couple of brain cells if you would not go to view a house for sale based on the current owner's furniture?

Similarly, if a picture of an open bottle of wine and a couple of glasses on a patio table would be the thing to persuade you to view it?

Surely, surely it's just an old cliche that buyers have to be babied through the viewing process?

I think it is fine if people can't see past the furniture/decor if you are buying a house because you can get a bargain but not if you are selling because you want to get top price for your house. People won't pay top price for a house that needs work.

I hate all those "lifestyle" photos. We were house hunting recently, and they gave me the rage.

No I do not want to see a close up photo of a coffee maker, a vase of flowers or the toiletries in the bathroom. I want to see the size and shape of the actual rooms as that is what I am buying.

When I bought my current house I was 90% sure before viewing it that I was going to buy it - I wanted it for the street it was in, the look of it from the outside and the size of it! I had also seen it on the inside when it had been on the market one time previously and knew the decor was horrible but it didn't put me off.
Anyway the estate agent wouldn't let me view it for a fortnight whilst the owner redecorated! I said a bit of paint wouldn't make any difference to me and that we would redecorate after buying anyway but they were insistent! So annoying!
