To ask about cordless dysons?

I've searched old threads but can't find what I'm after, sorry!

Need a new vacuum cleaner. Like the look of the cordless dyson on TV but are they any good? Anyone have one?
I don't even know what the model number is!

Thank you!

I love the fact that if I've got 5 mins free I can pick it up and whizz round the worst parts of the whole of downstairs, which I would have had to allow 15 mins for with the old corded one, getting it out, plugging it in, dragging it around, going back to unplug it and plug it in again somewhere else then putting it away again.

I have the slim one, won it on here GrinGrinGrinGrin
You would have to pry it out my hands. So much easier with no lead dragging around

It's a pain in the ass.

I would rather lug the Henry about than use the Animal! Not enough battery and the brush clogs/stops spinning too easily.

Not worth the money, IMO.

We use ours all the time. I particularly like that if is so easy to give downstairs a quick once over every evening.

People say they can't do their whole house in 20 mins. The thing is, vacuuming the whole house may take longer, but the vacuum isn't on the whole time. When you factor in the time spent walking From room to room, it's a lot less. A plug in cleaner would still have the motor running as you move from a to b, the cordless only has the motor running when you're actually wanting to vacuum. Does that make sense? 20 mins is easily enough to do my 4 bed house, even though the whole process may well take 30+ minutes.

I've got the dc59. Only had it a week but I love it. I can do my whole reasonable sized 3 bed semi on one charge and still have enough for a quick living room clean up after the kids have thrown their lunch on the floor. It's so much quicker and easier than my old upright dyson animal.

I really want a cordless Hoover, like someone else said our current dyson is too heavy for lugging upstairs in our townhouse so DH hovers stairs & upstairs!

Moving next yr & toying with bream system or a super cordless Hoover,..price ie cordkess might win out on this one!!

BolshierAyraStark · 22/11/2014 19:25

I've got the V small hand held one-£99 from Aldi. Only has 6 minutes per charge but I manage to do my 2 flights of stairs & the kitchen floor in that time...

monkeymamma · 22/11/2014 21:24

We've got a dyson cordless and a normal dyson. The cordless is not as powerful as the normal but it is so easy to use and I wouldn't be without it - saw a young pregnant couple looking at one in John Lewis and told them it would be their best baby purchase (it was ours).

DC 59 owner here- love it, DP was paying so I went for the top of the range to get the best battery life. I don't really do big cleans- tend to just keep on top and the dyson is fab- tidy and dust a room, use the dyson, send the kids to empty and put back on charge for the next room. Tbh the mess the kids make always needs a fair amount of tidying and we have open fires so dusting takes a while, it's usually charged by the time I need it again!

I think I've got the upright ball one out twice since I got the digital slim :-/

QueenofLouisiana · 22/11/2014 22:17

I have the animal cordless one. It's fab! The charge lets me do the downstairs of my house, the stairs and bedrooms (standard 4 bed house). I use it 3 or 4 times a week. The collection bit needs emptying a lot, but I think that is because the dog moults loads, so most of the collection is from that.

RandallFloyd · 23/11/2014 00:01

I've got mainly laminate floors with deep-pile shaggy rugs.
Would it work on those?

AtlantisMonkey · 23/11/2014 04:40

Following...
A friend had one and has had no end of problems with it... But I still really want one!!

paxtecum · 23/11/2014 09:20

I would never buy anything Dyson again after having to scrap a Dyson because it needed new bushes.
Bushes should be a spare part that cost pence, but with a Dyson the replacement part is a whole new motor.

Not really innovative engineering and design.

Shetland · 23/11/2014 09:24

I have the animal kne (I think) and I love it - almost never use the main Hoover any more.
I whip round the downstairs daily, definitely needed because of the dogs, and I can do kitchen/diner, living room, bathroom, and 2 bedrooms on one charge. Obviously that just the obvious areas - I still get the big Hoover out for a proper clean.
