have i been conned.

not sure if i have been conned or if im just being a bit thick. i had a loan. but still owed 150 pounds on that loan. I was told i could have another loan of 500. but i have to use that to pay back the remaining 150 on the old loan, so leaving me with 350.

so now interest and weekly payments are based on 500.

should i have been asked if i wanted to borrow 350 rather than the 500.

but then if my balance has to be zero maybe that was the only way round it.

anyway something does not seem right. maybe it is right and im just being a bit thick.

so i borrowed 500. ended up with 350 due to owing 150 to clear old loan. and now my total repayment will be 945.00

you know im just thinking. if i can hide the dog for the next 6 weeks :/ i think i could save that money myself. as i said its because its on top of xmas that its messed things up for me. i could pay for xmas as i normally would. then just after xmas end if month. i would be due my wage again. and wont have anything to pay out. part from normal stuff ie food and general bills.

Have you contacted any animal welfare charities to see if they could have the dog for you until you raise the 500? I think you are taking a risk trying to hide the dog for 6 weeks.

Have you asked your employer if they could loan you the 500 and deduct the payments from your wages?

GarlicNovember · 21/11/2014 23:18

Honestly, I think you should grit your teeth for a cost-free Christmas. Apologise in advance, give everyone £1 presents, and resume normal seasonal service next year.

Give Provident their poxy £500 back and revert to the original loan. You might need Step Change to manage this with you, to make sure they can't try and punish you. You're still within your cooling-off period, so they shouldn't, but I have heard they can be unduly - erm, pushy.

GarlicNovember · 21/11/2014 23:20

Oh, two good ideas there emotions!

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:21

garlic. i really wish they have evicted me. they had not done any repairs in over 5 years tried to blame me for them as i said above. trying to over charge me for them. then the council agree to pay 1400 for the repairs to avoid me becoming homeless. and as you know they now want 500 so i can keep the dog. council no the agency they know they are con people 400 grand went missing in housing benefit. and my council reward them by not only paying the rent to them but for their repairs as well even though all that money went missing. i recon the council would have been better help me raise a new deposit to get away from them. agency are probably laughing... sorry ranting

If the new loan is not going to achieve what you need it to, i.e., the 500 to keep the dog I think you need to try and find the money from elsewhere I fear you may be getting yourself into a difficult situation if you take this new loan.

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:23

i have only been with my emplyer for 11 months. dont think i could ask that.

i did look into it to see if i can get the dog a temp place to be but have not got anywhere. not sure if im looking in the right places. im also having a problem because hes a staff

OP posts:
ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:26

i know emotion as i have said i have had theses loans before. and i tell myself i wont do it again. Then something happens like with the dog. i sort of get a bit scared of the situation of having him here when i should not. but also loosing him because i could not get the 500 deposit fast enough.

Ask your employer, if you are a good employee I am sure they will give it careful consideration. The company I work for would do this, they are guaranteed the money back as they deduct it direct from wages before you receive them and if you leave before it is paid the balance will be deducted from your final salary. They can only say no, OP, and they may well say yes.

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:31

yeah i guess nothing to loose.

emotionsecho · 21/11/2014 23:33

You've got 14 days to think about the loan, I hope you decide against it, in that time speak to the Credit Union and your employer. I'm guessing there is no way the Council will help you with the extra 500?

Look online for animal welfare charities and Staffordshire rescue centres and speak to them too.

emotionsecho · 21/11/2014 23:35

Was the dog a rescue dog before you got him? If so it might be worth speaking to where you got him from.

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:36

thank you yeah i think in a nut shell im going to give them back the 350. pay the remaining 150 asap. also get advice via credit union. its right next to the bus stop that i use every morning to go to work so i can easy go in there on monday

emotionsecho · 21/11/2014 23:39

Good, I hope it works out for you ghost.

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:40

no emotion. i got him from someone who could no longer keep him. that was about 18-ish months ago. bit she had given him to someone else before me. and that person was beating him. old owner found out so got him back. and then she gave him to me. so hes not had a good time just before coming to me. and im not sure how much it would upset him if he went to a temp place. or if he would just be ok if he was treated right. hes not scared of people or anything so maybe he would be ok

OP posts:
Vikingbiker · 21/11/2014 23:45

Could the previous (non beating) owner have her till after Xmas to enable you to save the cash?

Vikingbiker · 21/11/2014 23:47

I'd also contact the RSPCA and ask if they can temporarily have the dog

ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:49

she did say she would have him for a short while if urgent. but she was saying she wants me to get him a cage as she does not want him having run of the house when shes out. but she was also worried the cat will attack him. i did take him to her house a couple weeks ago and the cat went for him. the thought of the cage seems a bit horrible. but maybe its not

OP posts:
ghostspirit · 21/11/2014 23:51

i might contact rspca again i did try before. i asked if they had any detales of people/charitys that may be able to look after my dog on a temporary basis. all i got was a blunt no.

OP posts:
Vikingbiker · 21/11/2014 23:55

Cages are fine. Think of them more as a comfortable warren where your dog will feel safe and secure. Could you ask on free cycle for a cage?

TheChandler · 21/11/2014 23:57

How long have you had the dog already? I would say if its several months, the agency have already accepted this change to your contract of lease impliedly by their actings, and they are too late to insist on an increased deposit or to hold you in breach of contract if you refuse to do so.

No idea how adding a dog to an increased deposit would work with the TDS. You will know which scheme they use and how to get in touch with them because the agency must by law let you know where your deposit is held.

I take it you have got a proper lease and notification of which TDS was used?

As for the loan, sounds above board to me. Onerous terms, but above board. As for the repairs thing, no idea whats going on there!

But animal rescues will be full of unwanted pets just before Christmas (people getting new puppies).

Vikingbiker · 21/11/2014 23:59

Have you a friend/relative who could look after him while you walk him once every day and pay for food

ghostspirit · 22/11/2014 00:06

chandler. i dont think i have been conned. i think its just i have realised i have been a mug by getting the loan in the first place. my original deposit never went in a rent deposit scheme. it went walk abouts with all of the housing benefit money that i said about earlyer on. All they done is change their names and made new tenancy agreement. and on that it said o deposit is paid under this scheme.

I have no proof that they said i could have the dog. and it still comes down to if they say the evict me because of the dog i would be making myself homeless

OP posts:
ghostspirit · 22/11/2014 00:12

vikingbiker no i dont know anyone who would have him
