Another parking one I'm afraid!

DH and I popped round to someone's house on the way home. When we got there, the drive was occupied and a van was parked alongside the grass verge (the houses are fairly big, so each house has a dropped kerb for the drive and a grass verge approx the length of a car outside). So DH parked alongside the grass verge outside the next door neighbour's house, and went inside to speak to his mate quickly. I stayed in the car so we didn't have to get toddler DD out.

A few minutes later a car drove past, pulled up along the next grass verge, and a woman got out and knocked on my car window. I opened it and she said "excuse me, but I can't get into my drive, do you mind moving?"

I replied, "of course not" and went to move into the driver's seat. At which point the woman said "actually, I think I can get into my drive from the other side" and walked off again to pull her car onto the drive.

At first, I was pretty bewildered as to why the woman felt the need to approach me when the car wasn't actually in her way. But then it hit me- she obviously wanted to have a good moan/rant about someone parking on 'her' part of the road. Maybe she's even a MNetter and knows how a good bunfight can ensue from a parking thread? And I denied her the opportunity due to being polite and willing to help.

So AIBU to have been reasonable?

Maybe she honestly thought she couldn't get in ger drive Confused

I don't think she did it to make a point.
I imagine that she pulled up to the house, thought she couldn't get in but then when she got to your car she could see an angle where she could get in.

I think you are overthinking this.

She politely asked you to move so she could gain access to her driveway then realised she was able to get in without you having to move your car. It's not a big deal. She lives there so has a right to be able to access her own driveway. It's reasonable of you to move the car when asked but it would be unreasonable of you not to move when asked if you were obstructing the entrance to her property and she wanted to use her driveway.
