To ask who here has a nose job?

Hate my nose bloody crooked and fleshy. At the risk of sounding like Samantha brick mark 2 I am quite attractive...if you ignore the nose part that is :(
I'm about 2 years off being able to afford having it done. I know they say cosmetic surgery can't make you happy but I think it would for me.
Anyone had it done? Are you happy with the results?

Iwant - well fancy that, I'm pleased to meet another dramatic nose breaker!

When I say vain, I mean I would feel vain not that I think anyone else is! Quite the opposite in fact, I'm in awe of anyone who takes control of something they're not happy about!

Did people take much time off work post op until the bruising faded?

SmallLeaps · 22/11/2014 23:17

velourvoyageur "what were people's reactions like? did you feel self conscious?"

People's reactions were entirely positive. I also had one friend who wasn't quite sure if I'd had something done, even though it was incredibly obvious, such was the skill of the surgeon in making me still look like me, in a good way, iyswim. All the surgeons referred to on this thread seem to have been utterly sound, which is very reassuring.

No, I didn't feel self conscious! That was the whole beauty of it! Self conscious was what I felt before, all the bloody time. Afterwards - nada. Zilch. Zip. It was so, so liberating.

Decaff, thank you Smile

Wishful, any more thoughts?

It's something I've been seriously considering too, not so much for bumps or the bridge of the nose but altering the nostrils/tip. Can I ask those of you who have had surgery how much it cost?

Gruntfuttock · 23/11/2014 00:09

Teeb It cost me £2K, but that was nearly 30 years ago.

DH has had two very painful nose operations in his thirties to try and fix the damage caused by going over the handle bars of his bike as a child. He's had the facial bones that the nose sits on re-broken, as well as extensive restructuring of the cartilage.

It's still not completely straight and he can't breathe through it very well, but it's better than before. He's seen a new surgeon to discuss further surgery but can't face the pain again.

I suppose it depends on how structural the changes are that you want to make on how painful it will be.

PragmaticWench · 23/11/2014 00:36

Amazingly he's had some friends who haven't realised he's had surgery, yet if you look at a photo the difference is massive.

Eggybread00 · 23/11/2014 07:27

I've had one, I even hated being at traffic lights because of my side profile!
Best thing I ever did! Although my black eyes lasted a good few months but I'm not a brilliant healer.

This thread has made me even more determined to have one. When I've managed to save up enough I will go for it :) thanks all been interesting reading your experiences. Its come up a few times about looking like a better version of you- that's exactly what I would want

I've just remembered that when I went for the consultation with the surgeon, he told me that I had a deviated septum, which I didn't know about, although it did explain why I'd always had difficulty breathing through my nose, despite its size. He said that he would do whatever he could to improve that for me when he operated, so nose jobs can result in more than just a cosmetic improvement. Smile

SmallLeaps · 23/11/2014 22:56

OMG Eggy, I'd actually forgotten about the traffic lights... Me too, used to hate it, and more than once I was the butt of much hilarity and derision from the occupants in the car alongside. Sad

Thank god for surgery.

Wishful, glad to hear the thread is helping.
