To be very over excited about Christmas

It doesn't seem the done thing anymore, and most people that i know are grumbling away about it..but..
I cant wait! I'm desperate to put up the tree and decorations.
Think part of it us that ds is 5 so this is the first year he is properly 'getting' the whole build up/excitement and completely believes that the elves are out and about.
How di you feel about Christmas, and would you be hitting me with a very non Tinsley stick if you had to live with me Grin

catsofa, I hope you have a wonderful xmas this year. Flowers

WorraLiberty · 17/11/2014 17:00

I'm really looking forward to it and even more so since I got a completely unexpected windfall from a PPI claim.

3 of my neighbours have their lights and decs up already though

That's way too early even for me.

curiousgeorgie · 17/11/2014 17:50

I'm so over excited! DD1 is 4 this year and I get to go to her first ever nativity play, carol concert, write little cards for her class and look forward to her breaking up.

Christmas just makes me think of my childhood, I completely love it.

I can't wait. If I didn't think DD2 would pull the tree over I'd put it up today!

December 1st is my birthday and DH's is the 24th so it's always a lovely time Grin

DoTheStrand · 17/11/2014 18:20

I love Christmas and love preparing for it. I've been super-organised this year so I can enjoy everything happening in December more without getting stressed out by it.

Years ago I managed a department store Christmas department - it opened in the September and the only thing that took the shine off the festive season for me was having to wear musical reindeer antlers EVERY DAY.

RobotLover68 · 18/11/2014 11:52

Why should grocklebox "be merry"?

he/she doesn't - but equally, why the need to be so grumpy on a happy thread?

ChippingInAutumnLover · 18/11/2014 11:57

catsofa. I hope your Christmas is amazing! Be warned though, you might need some ear defenders! It's a shame you can't drink, I find it helps!! Grin

Oldraver · 18/11/2014 12:02

OP.... come over to Christmas and you can be excited with the rest of us.

Though there is always the odd moany gatecrasher

thegreylady · 18/11/2014 12:07

At the age of 70 I still get very very excited at the thought of Christmas. I do stockings for everyone so 9 adults and 8 children so I start planning/ buying early in the year. We are usually either with some of ourfamily or they are with us and I love it. I am sure there is some magic in the air come December.
November...not so much.

Idontseeanysontarans · 18/11/2014 12:13

I'll he looking forward to it more when the organisation stage and DS's birthday is done, so second week in December. Grin I do love Christmas and Yule (we do both) and the whole run up to it but with a large family and 3 December birthdays the whole month is a little hectic.
My over excitement kicks in the day the schools break up.

Bowlersarm · 18/11/2014 12:17

I love it too, OP. Everything about it. YANBU.

I swear I am way more excited than my DC, every year.

catsofa · 18/11/2014 18:17

Aw thanks for all the lovely wishes!

Chipping I need earplugs anyway because DP snores. Had a lovely "family" moment recently when I let him get as loud as possible while fallen asleep in front of the TV because FIL was also snoring and I thought DP's snoring would probably wake FIL up. Strangely I don't snore myself at all now I've started wearing earplugs Wink.

I now want to wear musical reindeer antlers every day.

pregnantpause · 18/11/2014 18:44

I'm with you. Beside myself this year- despite the fact it'll be one of my hardest Christmases as I am working six day weeks now - having been part time for years. I'm extra planned- all present bought- and wrapped. All December activities booked ( panties, concerts, Father Christmas etc) I talk to dh about Christmas every day, can't wait.

I feel like we've been cheated of autumn and it's finally cooling and feeling a bit wintry and I'm making the most of the festive season.

pregnantpause · 18/11/2014 18:45

We are obviously going to a panto not to panties this December Wink

Bulbasaur · 18/11/2014 18:56

I'm excited! It's DD's first Christmas. Me and DH have both put in extra hours so we could have a really nice one this year.
