The FB Turkey Ultrasound....

BlueGreenHazelGreen · 16/11/2014 22:25

I've started to see FB threads appearing with pictures of what looks at first glance to be an ultrasound and is in fact a turkey. Generally posted below a message about it being due in 6 weeks.

I probably am being unreasonable (I'm sure you'll let me know!) but I find these pretty distasteful and actually a bit... upsetting.

Is it just me - does everyone else find these uproariously funny?

I think we could be in danger of becoming a very bland country as everything is alwYs going to hit a nerve with sombody.

I don't think malice was ever intended by it - it's a turkey on a pretend scan picture. Nothing really to get hung up over . And if childless people get upset Hmm about it - then maybe no kne should ever post pictures of their children - or in fact we should stop having babies as a civilisation just because some sensitive soul gets disturbed by it.

I'm sure they won't Cat but they'll definitely check the picture carefully before they say congrats! Grin

(many congrats by the way!!) Flowers

Stale you are awfully grumpy!

I never said people shouldn't post it.

I never said it was malicious.

I like seeing scan pics, birth announcements and pics of people children and always did even when we were struggling.

I've conceded that I was Being Unreasonable, you can calm down and stop being so cross with me.

Have some Brew. And Cake in apology as I've clearly upset you.

Ps Stale my RL friends and family would find the notion of my being a sensitive soul hysterical

Stale, why are you giving the op suck a hard time when she's been so reasonable with her explanations??

Stalequavers · 17/11/2014 08:42

Your right I was grumpy - apologies!

mumofboyo · 17/11/2014 09:07

I thought they were funny - especially the one with the furby Blush mainly because I spent a good 5 minutes trying to work out how this baby could resemble a furby and where its arms/legs/head were before actually realising it was a joke!

Yanbu at all to find them distasteful - everyone has their own idea about what is/is not funny and in good taste; however the world would indeed be a very boring place if everyone felt they had to think twice before posting something seemingly innocuous for fear of upsetting or offending someone else.

I'd do as a pp suggested and hide the item, explaining why when prompted.

BlueGreenHazelGreen · 17/11/2014 12:39

Mum I haven't seen the Furby one yet, something to look forward to there...

Stale s'alright Cake makes everything better!

Fucksake Flowers I do love your name - so shy and retiring! Grin
