To be irritated that Frozen has overtaken Christmas in our town centre?

Just got back from town centre. Celebration type stuff before the lights get turned on. Festive music, couple of elves ....... and bloody Frozen themed dancers/characters. Wtf? Has Disney bought Christmas now??

I quite like the film and songs not so keen on the tat in the shop with a frozen picture on to double the price though

cococandyfloss · 17/11/2014 18:25

Well I would agree that it's a bit much now and it's overkill. However whoever up thread that said the singing was 3rd rate ! I will not have Idina Menzel called 3rd rate :o

TigerMum35 · 17/11/2014 18:25

I just hate anything 'Princess'. Give girls strong role models and real life heroines not cartoon over hyped nonsense.

EEVEElution · 17/11/2014 18:38

I do actually like frozen, there are some good messages in there for a disney film and the songs are great. The mania surrounding it is a bit OTT tho.

Shame about Milton Keynes, that's my home town and I always loved the Christmas displays in Middleton Hall.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 17/11/2014 18:39

I agree with coco An established theatre actress of Broadway with many awards to her name is hardly 3rd rate.

FWIW my mum thought that recent story about poundland having everyone scrambling for Frozen products was about food Grin

Waltons, how disappointing, I haven't been, but the Mk display is usually the one thing guaranteed to get me in the Christmas spirit, the magical lights and carousel, animatronic squirrels and elves while the extortionate train pootles round. It's the only reason I venture near the shops at Xmas, most of it I do online or argos. Sounds like I may as well not bother Sad

As for frozen, I think it's had it's day, but it is a great film, love the storyline about not falling for a man you've just met and sisterly love being 'true love' rather than it always being the prince who rescues the damsel in distress. Olaf is hilarious and I think the music is brilliant. Dp always wells up a bit watching it (he's a delightfully soppy sod!) and it's his new favourite Disney film, topping all time favourite Aladdin. I can't believe that a year later it's still going strong, but as a winter themed film I imagine it will be rolled out every Christmas from now on.

Don't be a Grinch!

PenelopeGarciasCrazyHair · 17/11/2014 19:07

Oh and yes to the the frog Waltons, makes me well up as soon as the music starts even thought my DCs hated it (dd would cry if we went into that car park, so I had to time visits to try and miss it!). Seeing all the little ones catching bubbles is so precious.

psychomum5 · 17/11/2014 19:43

You are gonna be buggered if we have massive snowstorms and even the weather takes up the Frozen theme........think of all the Olaf's the kids (and parents) will build, and all the children begging (or singing) 'Do you wanna build a snowman?' ... ALL THE TIME!

My son loves Frozen ergo I learnt to love Frozen. My wedding theme is Frozen. It's a nice Disney story with a catchy song. Yes it's commercial but it keeps them happy and quiet. Well, except when they are singing!!!

Florabeebaby · 19/11/2014 08:00

I love Frozen! My DD, almost 4, is obsessed and sings the songs, wears the dress, tries to get her brother (2) to be the reindeer...it's so bloody cute :)
Nothing wrong with a bit of Disney I say.

DollyParsnip · 19/11/2014 08:04

My DD saw Frozen last year at the cinema and loved it. She started school in September and was dreading it, really teary and anxious but within a week had made loads of friends because they could all sing the songs and be Elsa and Anna so I feel grateful that she had something immediately in common with the little girls.

Does make me horrified in a way, it is everywhere and means that if you haven't seen it there is the capacity to get a bit left out in the playground, much more so than other films or tv shows.
