To think it's no big deal to ask someone to more their yoga mat slightly

I was at a yoga class today which is popular. It was no crammed just busy. I tapped a woman in front of me to and politely asked a woman if she could move her mat up a little. If looks could kill! I was greeted with a face like thunder. Not exactly in the spirit of yoga.

Don't do Yoga, but my Bodypump instructor has enlightened me to the phenomenon of Front Row Divas who get violently upset if someone is in "their" space. FFS, first come first served and be nice to new people! Mind you at my gym it's more of a fight to get the back row, despite the fact the instructors are lovely and don't bite!

Ha, I'm a regular at Body Pump and do get v annoyed if someone new sets up in "my" spot. Difference is I know I'm being unreasonable and would never dream of telling them to move!

At least with body pump you have the benches, which means spots are well marked out. My yoga class has no mats which is a pain - esp when I arrive early, get a good spot, other people stand at a respectful distance away, then someone comes in late and stands between me and one of my neighbours meaning we are far too close together

I do yoga in the gym and there are only 3 yoga mats and limited space. One woman comes in and asks people to share their yoga mat instead of waiting til one becomes free. I always say no because I need the full mat and then she looks daggers at me...

Yy. And worried about farting too...

TheRealMaryMillington · 14/11/2014 12:23

How can you possibly share a yoga mat with any success?

TheCraicDealer · 14/11/2014 14:13

Hmm, this is not as bad as my trauma at pilates last week. I was on my side, merrily stretching away when I noticed the man in front of me had turned to face me instead of the mirrored wall where the physio was. I quickly realised why- he had chosen to wear loose boxers and football shorts and his balls were poking out of the bottom. Clearly he didn’t want the physio to start playing “cock or ball” with him, but I was fair game. I had to repeat the mantra of “look straight ahead, look straight ahead”.

I once went to an ante-natal deep breathing class.

I yawned a couple of times. I guess it was a bit loud Hmm

A very angry pregnant woman told me to stop making so much noise.

Bonkers, some people are. Just

I used to do hot yoga and there was always some guy who would sort of Shake his sweat over the next person. Bleurghh

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 14/11/2014 19:38

Oh yuk!

Is hot yoga good?

TheBogQueen · 14/11/2014 19:53

Hot yoga is amazing. Very dynamic, can be very challenging but you go at your own pace. All shapes and sizes go but there is a bit of a 'body beautiful' vibe.

I couldn't cope with the heat though - one day I came home and practically collapsed. So I stick to dotty iyengar yoga now.

usmama · 14/11/2014 23:33

I was going to ask if it was hot yoga. made me all sweaty and aggro, and they really cram people in there!
