Myself and DH are going away for 4 days on Saturday with our 5mo DD. staying in a relatives holiday cottage in a small village but within reasonable driving distance to larger towns. We are taking 1 car, both of us can drive.

I have started packing and in conversation this morning I said how I was going to pack 5 bottles for DD. He said I was being ridiculous and we should be taking AT LEAST 15. Now DD at the moment has 4-5 bottles per day so I was planning on cleaning them out after we have used each one and popping in a cold water steriliser solution (no rinse Milton)

He completely disagrees and actually started trying to argue with me about it. He seems to really think I'm in the wrong here.

AIBU or is he.

If everyone agrees with DH then I suppose I will just pack 15? Room isn't an issue as our car is spacious and it's only going to be the 3 of us travelling ... Sorry for the very boring thread Grin

Oh AIBU to have about 20 bottles BlushGrin DD had a few problems as a newborn and I switched to DrBrown to see it would help. I found it did so I bought about 5. We bought 2 of the 6 packs of Tomme Tippe before she was born then got a few free eg with the microwave steriliser, perfect prep machine.

As someone said the microwave steriliser only holds 4 so became a pain I now use a big bucket and no rinse Milton cold solution.

Tbh I don't use most of the bottles .. Rotate the same few if I'm being honest GrinI think I will take 8 to be on the "safe side".

Your dh is volunteering to do all the bottle washing, sterilising and making up the bottles, as far as I can tell.

If this is the case, stop arguing and tell him you're only packing one babygrow and no nappies.

If he's not volunteering, 5 bottles is fine. Let him be in charge of the other 10.

PrimalLass · 12/11/2014 12:34

If there is a microwave I would just take the steriliser with four bottles packed inside it, plus one for the journey. It's hardly a chore to sterilise them more than once a day.

PrimalLass · 12/11/2014 12:34

*it being the microwave steriliser, not the microwave.

MOTU · 12/11/2014 13:38

We have 5 bottles total. And I take 2 when we go away..... 15 is insane and if he's suggesting that so you do t have to wash them all I can say is I pity the person who has to deal with them when you get back!!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 12/11/2014 13:46

We're currently away with DD and have bought 4 bottles. Takes 5 mins to wash and sterilise them!

ithoughtofitfirst · 12/11/2014 17:52

15 lol

gobbynorthernbird · 13/11/2014 12:44

You don't need 15 bottles of wine, that makes you a collector
Not if you drink them.

Bumpedbonce · 13/11/2014 12:50

I reckon he got his numbers the wrong way round, 6 bottles for the baby, 15 bottles of wine for you!

MildDrPepperAddiction · 13/11/2014 12:51

Why do you even have 15 bottles?

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 13/11/2014 12:52

I can't believe people have 15 bottles. Maximum I had was 7! 6 in the steriliser at the end of the day and always an extra one avaliable.
Take 5.

confusedandemployed · 13/11/2014 12:57

Oh my god. I only ever had 6. When we went away I would use sterilising tablets. YANBU. Your DH is being bonkers.
