Seriously exhausted tonight! Spoke to 3 different people this day. Two long time friends and my sister. All spent the whole conversation complaining and moaning about barious aspects of their lives! None of them even once asked how I was or if things were ok. At one point during a convo with a friend I stopped talking altogether and I don't even think she decking noticed. Tomorrow I'm not answering the bloody phone. I have had enough.

Hope you're feeling better now OP, I think some people get on a phone and forget there's another human on the other end of it.

Even more annoying when you perhaps need a friendly ear far more than they do.

my MIL does a variant of wasting my time.
I call her to discuss when she picks up DD or whatever. when that's done I'm ready to hang up, I say goodbye but then she says "oh and by the way" and starts talking about completely irrelevant things! then, when I dare to say that I really have to go, she tells me that now she has to go because she is very busy....

ffs, you've just wasted both of our times by going on about for umpteenth time about antibiotics or your diet or what your now dead neighbour said about whatever 15 years ago.....aaarrggghhh stop talking!!!!

Ah Zing one of these girls does that!!! I say look I really have to go and she will just keep talking like I hadn't spoken then about 10 mins later will say she has to Gorman she has things to do. FEVk! Drives me nuts. Thanks for all the advice and support stories ladies. Just what I needed.

can you get caller ID and just not pick up?

It will feel like a mean thing to do but you are not obliged!
you could be in the shower, changing a nappy, answering the door, having a lovely cuddle with your kids etc and you would have to let the phone ring. so tell yourself that you ARE busy, your mind is occupied elsewhere and your time is precious.
and just don't pick up.

you must try to do that at least once today.
if you are successful you can eat this lovely cake!
