There's a distinct lack of imagination and enthusiasm this year judging by those who have knocked at door so far this evening.

I blame ASDA Walmart of course Grin

3/10 so far for effort - buck up everyone. I'll be keeping the Haribo all to myself at this rate Wink

I've had two groups so far and they were reasonably dressed but DH asked what their "trick or treat" was. Apparently they used to tell a joke or sing or do a trick or something.
We are in North East Scotland where there's a long history of guising but I'm from middle England and we didn't do trick or treating. We did used to carve swede lanterns and wander the streets but we were the only ones in our village to do so (Dad was from Yorkshire).

I don't see any merit to wearing homemade costumes as opposed to home made ones. It is still making an effort where parents usually don't have a whole lot of time to burn on pointless crafting to get a rubbish outfit. I don't get the snobbery around using Tesco's best.
