To be annoyed at 17 month diaries

I am searching for a new diary for Christmas and every one I find started in August. DP bought me an Organised Mum (that name is another thread) one last year and it really put me off that a third of it was already useless.
What's the point of diaries being formatted like this? You can't buy August to August as the last third would be wasted and you can't buy January to January without the first third being a waste.
Am I being unreasonable to think this is stupid?

"Diaries??? Filofaxes? Are you all living in the dark ages? "
I arranged to meet a friend for lunch recently. It took her about four times as long to enter it on her smartphone as it took me to write it in my diary. Which, MrsTerrorPratchett, is the 18 month Moleskine.

I buy one of these calendars every year in September - which is about the time I seem to start getting appointments for the following year. I start using it immediately by transferring committments for Sept-Dec into it and discarding the current one I have been using. So yes, I do end up wasting some of the months, but I just prefer to only have one calendar on the go at a time rather than one up on the wall, and one stored eleswher that I have to keep finding every time I have a date for 2015 that I need to note down.

Thank you Betty Smile

but hardcover, Where.

You buy what suits you OP. I use the spare 6 months for long term planning until I get the new diary, transfer and use the new one. I don't 'lose' long term stuff.

YABU - I have moved house recently and in my quest to be an 'organised mum' have been making my 'command centre'. We didn't have a calendar before so I was looking everywhere for one but thought I would have to wait until 2015 to start my organised life......until I came across a 17month calendar that started in August. Hurrah!

Snap MrsTerror & Whereyouleftit - and same usage too - I buy in late September and operate with 2 for a couple of weeks while I transfer everything over.
