"I love you very very much and really want this to work, even if you do want to stab me in the face"

To add context, my partner and I have been bickering lately (and honestly it is not just because he is lazy and eats all the cheese...) and I have been feeling very stabby towards him but upon reading this my rage has turned to guilt!

Well, guilt isn't the feeling it would prompt inme, but each to their own I guess Confused.

YANBU.
It's Ok to feel sorry after saying something awful to the person you love and then suddenly remembering that you do love them in spite of the fact they are Cheesey Fuckers.
Put the cheese in a locked cashbox inside the fridge, give the old fella a hug and work on whatever it is that is really coming between you. xxx

Equally, don't be guilted into carrying on something that may be is on it's last legs.

AMumInScotland · 27/10/2014 13:36

Well, it depends really - did you tell him you want to stab him in the face? Is this something you feel often? Do you think you were justified in feeling that way, and saying it, in the context at the time?

What is he actually doing to get the relationship to move on from the problems you are currently having? Saying he loves you and wants it to work is fine as an opening bid, but if it's his entire plan for fixing things, then it lacks any power to actually make things better.

Similarly, what do you think needs to happen to improve things? Again, feeling guilty isn't going to fix anything. Do you really have anything to feel guilty for? Or is you feeling guilty and backing down a normal part of how rows get 'resolved'?

So - the text and the mild guilt are ok in themselves, but they are item 1.a.i on the route to improving things...

I think if you feel like that, and it's not passing rage over a minor incident, then you probably need to reconsider the relationship.
