Noisy kids (lighthearted)

I know I'm being unreasonable, I just need to rant.
I'm a live-in nanny. I chose to be a live-in nanny, I knew that would involve being around the children even on days off. I'm fine with that, I quite like it (most of the time).

But lately, the family I'm with at the moment, have decided that 5am-8am is the time to make AS MUCH NOISE AS POSSIBLE apparently.
I know children make noise when they wake up, but do the parents need to be shouting to each other when one is upstairs and one is down? This then makes the children use louder voices too.
If one of the children says 'see nannynoss?' the parents don't just simply say 'not at the moment, she's having a rest', they just say 'sshhh come on come on' - said child will then scream my name because they probably feel like the parent hasn't heard/listened to their request!

MB is off work at the moment and sleeps during the day (I would too!) but I tiptoe around with the kids, tell the eldest to use her quiet voice, stay downstairs as much as possible so as not to disturb MB. So it really irks me when they drag all the children upstairs to 'help' with the laundry next door to my room (loudly).

I'll stop moaning now.

On your next working day make some toffees with them, see that wires their jaws up....keep em quiet for a while!

Onepot · 26/10/2014 10:02

Or you join in the commotion...do you play drums?!

Onepot · 26/10/2014 10:03

Perhaps see who can shout the loudest at 5am....might irritate the nieghbour though!

Onepot · 26/10/2014 10:03

Or just buy some really good earplugs!

nannynoss · 26/10/2014 10:10

Can the toffees be for the parents?!

Off to buy some drums. Wink

Oh yes toffee for parents much better.
Drums and a cymbal the louder the better...may be an amplifier too Grin

Maybe I will get one of those plastic microphones from the 90s that echoes your voice...just to add some vocals to the beat of course.

Rude! When does your working day start? The parents are just taking the piss really. Tell them it's not on. They obviously can't cope without you so you do have the upper hand. 'I can't do my job properly if you wake me up so early.' And remind the children. 'Remember, when you wake up earlier than me at the weekend, please use your quiet voices.'

nannynoss · 26/10/2014 10:34

I don't work on the weekends so I can't really complain, I could just stay in bed all day. But that's not the point!
When I start work during the week, the house is almost silent for the first two hours they are awake before I start. I don't understand how they can do it in the week but make so much bloody noise at the weekend?!

Arg nanny thats where you are going wrong on your working days you need to be as loud as possible, sneezing really loudly can be very effective! Really i think you are just being to considerate in the mornings...maybe stomping up and down stairs really early on your working days!

Onepot · 26/10/2014 10:39

Too not to

nannynoss · 26/10/2014 10:48

Or I could have a really loud phone conversation on the landing at 1am on a Saturday night?

If I was noisy in the evenings, I would understand it. But they always say they worry I haven't come home because I creep in so quietly if they are in bed when I get home!
