Aibu to think the police just don't have the resources to police what is essentially playground bullying on the Internet. In particular, I'm talking about adults, especially those in the public eye, who are putting themselves further into the public eye by putting their opinions and views on Twitter et cetera
Of course there are exceptions and some very twisted "trolls" out there. But the police have come out this week stating they don't have the resources to go after all the individuals who are viewing child pornography on the Internet, which I feel represents a far more serious set of criminal offences.
I know that the police receive thousands of complaints from the general public regarding what so-and-so have said to them once on the Internet. Media obviously picks up the stories and it snowballs. But I think it is to the detriment clearly of going after criminals who are hurting the most vulnerable in our society and in many cases people should take it on the chin a little more, if they choose to be on a forum where anonymous comments are invited.
