i work in a well known fastfood restaurant and i am so tired of familes smearing cheeseburgers up the window or just leaving trays on the tables and spilled drinks on the floor and then sauntering off to their cars Angry Angry i dont know if any of you have done this but just a few pointers if you have 1. we dont get paid to clean up after you 2. it makes us laugh at how messy your house and dc must be and 3. we provide bins for a reason. : Disclaimer this is not a post to upset or offend.

I don't know why Thr capitals - I was trying to express my utter disgust! Italics might have been better - trying to reinforce that it was a nice place with table service and people still act like complete pigs.

What's the best font adaptation to use to express shock? Should I stick to Shock after the sentence?

I think people who can't at least throw their rubbish in the bin, or stack their dirties on the a tray (like in a food court) are just lazy arses.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/10/2014 14:28

YANBU, I worked in one when I was a student and the expectation in a fast food place is that you are served at the counter and either take it away or take a tray eat in and then put the rubbish off the tray into the bin and the tray in the pile next to the bin. yes we were paid to keep the place clean but that was mainly to wash the trays for reuse and wipe over tables and keep floors tidy. We used to have signs reminding people what to do with their trays after eating and to be fair most did but this is many years ago now. Thinks we have lost a lot of respect for places nowadays, you only have to look at how people drop clothes all over the place in Primark and leave it in a tip to see that 'cheap' options are seen as not being worth any effort.

I'm so gled that Ai've never eaten in a McDonald's if this is what it's laike. I ate in a Burger King yairs ago and the tables were cleared by stairff.

I had tea and cake in Buckingham Palace Gardens last year. Bins were in the public part and we all put our trays and cups etc where indicated. A member of stairff would waipe the table and there was never anything on the grind

ElliotLovesGrub · 26/10/2014 14:41

I think your manager needs to look at the way he runs the place if he's telling you that the staff don't need to clean up and there's no one wiping tables etc in the day. Assuming it's Mcdonalds, he's slacking off.

Hissy · 26/10/2014 14:50

this thread is why there are so many skanky people at large in society, and many adults and their kids have no manners/pride.

Pick up your wrappers, put on tray, put the rubbish in the bin on your way out

hardly rocket science is it? lazy bastards

restaurant
[res-ter-uh nt, -tuh-rahnt, -trahnt]
noun
1.
an establishment where meals are served to customers.

staff in fast food restaurants are paid to serve food, clear up spills, wipe down tables and otherwise ensure the place is hygenic and acceptable for other customers.

they are not paid because you can't be arsed to clear up after yourself, or to show your children that manners cost nothing. if your kids throw food, you damned well pick it up! as you would (I would hope) in your home or that of others.

so, yeah, leave your shit on a table. i'll see you and i'll comment, loud parent style, to my ds. I won't expect you to give a shit, cos people like that don't care about anything.

but I know who'd get invited to more places, get further on in life...

yeah, I judge people like that, so sue me..

Smilesandpiles · 26/10/2014 14:57

It happens everywhere.

Our college cafeteria is always a mess 10 minutes after the staff have been round and cleaned it ready for the lunchtime rush. Very few of the students actually clean up after themselves. There are notices, trollies to put your tray in and bins everywhere. It's even mentioned in the welcome metting that you have to clean up after yourself. There is no excuse for it.

ScaryZ · 26/10/2014 15:01

It's like cinemas, I could weep at the crap left all over the floors in cinemas.

I used to make my children take their rubbish with them, I hope they still do. They are also made to clear up in school, and clean the canteen if they make a mess.

Just because someone is paid to clear up (and not paid much most of the time) doesn't mean you are entitled to make a mess.

carlsonrichards · 26/10/2014 15:04

Because they are ill-mannered minging pigs.

raltheraffe · 26/10/2014 15:06

To be fair my son is only 3 and often drops food on floor. I think you will find it is your job description to clean up the restaurant.

ScaryZ · 26/10/2014 15:13

Would you really not pick up food your 3 year old dropped Shock

Wow.

greenfolder · 26/10/2014 17:15

This really gets me. It is rude and I'll mannered not to throw your rubbish in the bin. Why anyone just leaves it is beyond me. Especially in a busy place with few seats. I mean just why?

sickntiredtoo · 26/10/2014 17:19

McDonald's try to save staff hours and therefore money, by asking customers to clear their trays, but of course there is no requirement for them to do so. If you think clearing up afdter customers is not part of your job, then you are deluded!!

Andrewofgg · 26/10/2014 17:22

I spent some time during one of my university vacations in a fast-food joint at London Zoo where the joke was the at the customers were the filthiest animals in the place.

And o/t but if ever you go there swear at the flamingoes and they might swear back. They are like budgies and parrots, they can be taught to mimic the human voice, and the keepers have taught them to use foul language!

riverboat1 · 26/10/2014 19:34

YANBU, everyone should put their leftovers and wrappers in the bin. If the bin is full, that would be a reasonable excuse though. In terms of spilled drinks, people should definitely alert a member of staff to that as it is a hazard. And if I spilled a drink I would grab some napkins (which are right there for the taking) and mop up what I could.
