Was I unreasonable to have called a cyclist an a**ehole . . .

. . . or should I have called him something else? Suggestions welcome!

I was on my bike, patiently waiting for the green man and the green bike so I could cross the road. Red light comes on for the traffic, but a cyclist, doesn't stop - can't stop no hands on his handlebars as he's using his phone. Instead he has to swerve to avoid me as I started to cross. So he has a go at me. I was very cross. What should I have called him?

She's not really.

I'm not a shit stirrer. I was just very cross and looking for a put down that was better than the one I chose. The unreasonableness was around my choice of word. And I am a cyclist, after all, so wasn't inviting criticism of all cyclists.

Overthinking this a bit pan?

I think it's a bit unfair to ban all opening posts that bring out the broken record posters.

Just expect them, let them say their piece and then continue.

well I do wonder how the heck you didn't see him coming before you crossed even if the light just turned red. Were you crossing when the green cycle light came on? From your post it sounds like you started to cross as soon as the light turned red for which you are equally wrong for doing so.

There is a reason why there is small delay from the light turning red to the green man/cycle light turning green and it is for extra safety in case a car cannot stop in time/braked late etc.

Te cyclist is of course just as wrong to have gone through a red light but given he was on his phone (which is wrong) obviously he would not have been able to stop.

In an ideal world you'd have shouted "It's a red light, arsehole!" just to bring home to him precisely why he's an arsehole. But "arsehole" on its own will do.
