I have a stinking cold and have been mainlining hot honey and lemon drink for my throat and for the vitamin c!

I have just looked on the honey jar and am shocked at the amount of calories.

so AIBU to continue drinking 6 cups a day, even though this will fulfil my calorie intake for the entire day?

A bit of whisky in the honey & lemon works well. Though not if you have to drive later.

Cinnamon and honey in hot water!

JustAShopGirl · 24/10/2014 13:31

or you could try some actual medicine - that stuff that has had years of research and tons of money spent on it, and actually reduces your symptoms making you feel a bit better -

it is a cold... it will last up to 7 days, those 7 days can feel crappy, or they can feel okish.. only time can get rid of a cold, science can minimise the effects.

I had swine flu and bronchitis when I was pregnant and I was very very poorly indeed but couldn't take anything good. I ate a whole jar of the expensive manuka honey and about thirty lemons and smothered myself in Vicks especially my feet.

I hope your not taking Antibiotics for the cold. They won't do a thing except lower your immune system even further.

no when i went to the doctor i had spots on the back of my throat so thats what the antiboitics are for

My late DM recommended hot whisky, water and honey, then three shags under three heavy blankets in an overheated room. HTH.

slightlyworriednc · 26/10/2014 17:48

Erm...3 shags? GrinGrinGrin

Andrewofgg · 26/10/2014 17:50

Yes, and three grins seems right too.

It might not cure the cold but you would mind it less . . .

Supermarket own max strength contestant relief tablets and two paracetamol. Much cheaper than the branded stuff and just as effective.

I've had a stinking cold for the past two weeks which hasn't been helped by getting cold and wet several times a day. I have myself a migraine from coughing so much. Only way I got through it was regular painkillers, cold tablets and a mountain of tissues.
