To avoid swimming because of tattoo?

Would love to take 16mo DS swimming. However, I have avoided it so far because of a tattoo I had done years and years ago and nearly immediately regretted. I've even had it removed (laser) but, as seems to be the case with tattoo removal, the outline is left and it's still very obvious. People tend to ask 'what is that??' if it's ever (mistakenly) on show which I HATE.

Would I be likely to get random strangers asking me in the pool? Stares from other mums? Would YOU just not go swimming at all or AIBU and should just get on with it?

Wear armbands. It will be covered and you will be extra floaty.

I like Letchworth pool a lot fit right in and you are right about the tattoos!

Op I have terrible acne and scarring all down my chest and back and several huge tribal tattoos (not brilliantly done I must add), I genuinely don't think anyone has ever so much as stared at me, even though I wear a bikini.

I have to say though that I really couldn't give a flying fuck if people stared, but I understand that other people may be more bothered by this than me. Smile

It doesn't matter. It's just part of you. I tend to see a woman with one leg in our swimming pool a lot, does that help you see that it really doesn't matter about a bit of tattoo or scarring.

Get dd swimming and seeing all the scary body shapes and daft flabby bits in the pool!

Thanks for all the comments - have made me realise I'm being over-self conscious and a bit of a twit to avoid taking DS swimming because of what is basically a small physical difference (and who doesn't have one?). You lovely, warm, wonderful bunch of people. Flowers

I'm afraid that I will however be de-forresting my bikini line, AWomb so that people don't think i'm smuggling Chewbacca between my thighs.

Get some Dermablend OP. You can get it in Boots I think...and some superdrugs. If not try Debenhams ...it is EXCELLENT.

if anyone does ask, tell em it's a shark bite but you THINK the pool has got rid of them all now.

I take my glasses off when I go swimming.

You could be in there stark naked with a muff floatier than Cher's wig and I wouldn't know Grin.

And if it was one of the rare occasions where I'd actually remembered to wear contact lenses, I still wouldn't care. Because, like everyone else, I'm only concerned about my own wonderful appearance in a swimming costume Blush.
