Don't keepna glass table anywhere where the sun can hit it. Mine was sitting in a dining room and had the sun shining through the window. One afternoon the bonding that held the legs to the glass burst with a huge bang. I actually thought the table had exploded. Same thing happened to my friends. Have to get it uv bonded back on and it costs ££££. Gave it away on free cycle.

Yanbu. We bought one for our tiny kitchen diner when the dc were small. It scratched like a bastard and I got sick of moving the pepper pot to block out ds' s genitals (clothes refusing toddler).

noddyholder · 20/10/2014 16:19

I always put them in refurbs as they make the floor space look bigger but I think they are horrible and would never have one myself So clanky and noisy and always look dirty unless polished

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 20/10/2014 16:19

I hate them but might get a small one now I've seen that photo! Grin

squoosh · 20/10/2014 16:20

Love the levitating cat.

Hate glass topped dining tables. Hate them.

WeAreGroot · 20/10/2014 16:25

We had the option to have one left in our last rental property, couldn't get the landlord to move it out quickly enough!

I'd be terrified of using one, I'm dreadfully clumsy and capable of breaking absolutely anything. If I had access to a glass table it would only be a matter of time.....

ithoughtofitfirst · 20/10/2014 16:33

Never really thought about it before OP. But yeah. They suck.

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/10/2014 16:33

I'm not a fan of glass topped tables either. It could only end in disaster in this house.

DH had one in the kitchen if his rented flat(share) when we met. It was filthy. I (foolishly) tried to clean it once. It was a total nightmare.

Wooooo, that is the best photo ever.

Bewooohooove · 21/10/2014 00:20

Another reason to buy a Karcher window vac. Comes up a treat.

Pumpkinification · 21/10/2014 00:30

Glass top on a wooden coffee table, fab. I have an inherited set with emboidery under the glass, love them.

Dining tables OTOH, yuck. IMHO.

HerrenaHarridan · 21/10/2014 00:56

I really want one so that I can serve up dinner on see through glass plates.

In my misspent youth we used to lie underneath my friends parents one pouring water from one big clear glass jug to another... It was aaaaaamazing maaan!

PhaedraIsMyName · 21/10/2014 01:06

The cat photo really is brilliant. Who'd have thought that's how they arrange everything to fit.

PhaedraIsMyName · 21/10/2014 01:11

Wow a whole new genre of cat pictures !
