AIBU to think a kilt pin is NOT an "offensive weapon"?

Ds has recently changed schools and been given a locker. Now he's not the least forgetful kid in the world, and has a habit of loosing things out of pockets. So until I could buy him one of those springy/retractable keyring things, I slipped the key onto a kilt pin and attached it around one of his belt loops, so he'd not loose it and know where it is. Skip forward to the next night, he comes in from school and starts looking for something in his bag. "What have you lost?" I ask. To which he replies "My locker key." It transpires a teacher has confiscated his kilt pin as it's, and I quote "an offensive weapon"... I mean? SERIOUSLY! Are they going to start removing sharpened pencils soon too?

OMG, I remember my mum buying me those grey kilt skirts with a pin when I was at school.

They weren't compulsory so not many girls wore them but my mum loved them, I still have cold sweats thinking about it !

How times have changed, I tried to lose the pins but mum insisted I wore one, when I got new skirts she kept the pins from the old ones as 'spares' in case I managed to lose one ! lol

Surely someone else must have had those skirts ?

After a hour on a tuesday afternoon during mid June 1983 that has ever since been referred to in hushed tones as "the incident" yes kilt pins are indeed offensive weapons very much so

Do they no longer use a compass for maths? We did some serious damage with those.

What about scissors? Knives for cooking? Bunsen burners?
You can do some damage with those.
Then there are hockey sticks, cricket bats, javelins, shot puts etc
