AIBU to expect a ride on mower not to break down after 3 months?

We bought a ride on mower in mid July and it has just gone kaput. I phoned the supplier and he said I must be to blame! Fuming! Can anyone advise me?

Well of course it should last longer than that, and will surely have a guarantee for at least a year? Goods sold are meant to be fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time without fault or breakdown.
Phone them back and say your NEW mower is faulty and you'd like a replacement (if you accept repair you can never get new one after that) they may agree then to repair at very least.
Ask them to justify their actions with regards to The Sale of Goods Act if they refuse, and tell them you'll be seeking professional advice.

It's not an Atco one is it? We bought one in May and ours broke the other week. We are waiting for the company we bought it off of to come and collect it for repair.

Thank you, great advice and you are absolutely right about the Sales Of Goods Act. I'm going to phone him back after i have finished my coffee. It cost £1,500 so it's pretty appalling to tell me it was my fault. I did tell him that i wasn't even driving it, it was our gardener and i saw it happen. It made a horrid crunching noise and ground to a halt. We bought a leaf blower from them last week too. Shocking customer service!

Hi Katrina, it's a Husqvarna YTH2042 20 horse power.
