Someone who has been in prison once for downloading child porn and then caught again and received a caution is likely to offend again?

Sorry OP, this must be so hard.

raltheraffe · 19/10/2014 11:49

I have not read anywhere OP wants him to have unsupervised access and I do not think she is asking about that.

Also you need to be wary of his willingness to change. Perhaps he genuinely does want to modify his behaviour, but equally he may just be being manipulative and paying you all lip service.

He comes off the sex offenders registered soon and has mentioned unsupervised contact. I have made it very clear that this will never happen and if he has a problem with this he needs to seek legal advice. I can't see any judge giving him unsupervised contact.

OP I totally agree with you. There is no way he can have unsupervised access.

Thanks to all who requested a title change, hope this is OK with you OP, and sorry to hear of your very difficult situation Thanks

I can maybe understand that he had a non custodial sentence, am shocked though that he appears to have had very little time on the SO register for doing it twice?!

Hi OP, you might want to look into this.

www.circles-uk.org.uk/

It's an idea that is spreading in UK, originated in Canada, and is a program that aims to prevent re-offending. The Canadian program has reported a very high level of success. People can misunderstand it, as it is about befriending and supporting a paedophile living in a community, but the whole point is to stop any thing else happening.

Your ex hasn't a hope of getting unsupervised access. The fact that he wants it, is a worry, he isn't accepting that there is something very wrong with him.

Convictions come with therapy as it's considered a mental health issue. they do have treatment. Be interesting to know the reoffending rate. They are closely monitored and any activity would result in further conviction

I'm really surprised that he is coming off the sex offenders register, how long was he on it?
