I have to empty my bagless hoover every month. Gets full up of dust and Greg fluf.

My mum recons she only does this once or twice a year.

How often do you need to empty yours?

About once a week.

Lonecatwithkitten · 19/10/2014 09:40

As I have pets everytime I use it. As even though I regularly treat my pets for fleas I know that a full Hoover bag is the perfect breeding ground for fleas.

Fenton · 19/10/2014 09:42

Every other day.

Bastard moulting bastard dog.

(I do love him though)

Fruityb · 19/10/2014 09:46

When it looks full! I have a Dyson so can see. I don't see the need to empty it after every use, I never used a new hoover bag every use.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 19/10/2014 09:47

I empty it when I'm putting bins out for collection so weekly. Could probably get away with fortnightly though.

KatieKaye · 19/10/2014 09:50

Another one with a Dyson that gets emptied at least once a week.
Maybe Hoovers aren't as powerful?

Floralnomad · 19/10/2014 09:51

Once or twice a week .

FuckYouSheRa · 19/10/2014 09:54

Dyson, every time I use it.

New carpets/big house.

DurhamDurham · 19/10/2014 09:56

I don't have routine for emptying the dyson, I wait until it drops more than it picks up, then I know it's time to empty.

The last time I emptied it there was a spider still alive in there, it must have been living on all the crud as hubby had remembered vacuuming it up the previous week.

meglet · 19/10/2014 09:57

Every time I use it.

I can't bear looking at the fluff and dust it's collected (there isn't a cupboard for it to hide in).

ohtheholidays · 19/10/2014 10:01

Every day after it's been used. Those of you that don't empty for ages doesn't your hoover loose power leaving all the dust ect inside it.

laurageordie · 19/10/2014 10:06

I thought the whole idea with bagless is no loss of sucktiokn? I empty mine when it gets to the Max level

Suction

Gruntfuttock · 19/10/2014 10:10

About twice a week. I'm really quite amazed at 'once a month', but as for OP's mum's 'once or twice a year' Shock

Hatespiders · 19/10/2014 10:16

After every time I use it. Don't like to leave fur from 3 cats in there, but also, it's very satisfying to see all the muck I've collected going into the bin. I'm always a bit disappointed if there's hardly any!

Carriemoo · 19/10/2014 10:20

Henry hoover and I change the bag probably 2 to 3 times a year.

We have a small house

wheresthelight · 19/10/2014 11:05

every time I hoover

kiki0202 · 19/10/2014 11:11

When it's full maybe every month or so I don't count I hoover every day I must not have a very dusty house.

capsium · 19/10/2014 11:13

Well it depends on how much you vacuum up. If you leave it too long and it fills up too much it is yucky to empty, as you have to pull the compacted dust and hair out by hand!

How can you tell I've made this mistake? Blush

madamginger · 19/10/2014 11:14

Every time I use it, I also clean the filters once a month. I do it on the 1st sunday of the month, I clean the washing machine and dishwasher on the same day as well.

halfdrunkcoffee · 19/10/2014 11:16

I empty it after each use, although it's not always full. We have a cat and two messy children. I used to have a Henry and didn't empty the bag for ages.

marmaladegranny · 19/10/2014 11:20

Hairy dog that's moulting for England = empty dyson about every 10minutes! Add a cat, general dust and new carpets and it fills up in a trice.
Agree with capsicum - it's awful if you leave it and muck compacts.
Thanks to pp for suggesting cleaning the filter - shall give that a go...

laurageordie · 19/10/2014 11:20

Just did my hi weekly hoofing and got about an inch in the cylinder. How do you suck up so much??!

OP posts:
marmaladegranny · 19/10/2014 13:47

I'm house-sitting for DD & DSIL - their's is a big house but, yes, 10 minutes hoovering has filled the dyson with almost exclusively dog hair!
Thanks to pp who suggested cleaning the filter - found it and washed it resulting in brown sludge! Not sure how long since it as last done, could have been a while, not helped as DSIL (slightly OCD) has been hoovering the loft!!

whois · 19/10/2014 13:56

Surly it depends how often you Hoover and how dusty your house is?
