and sell them for £5-£6 more?

They would be imported from China and USA.

This is simply business, right?

I would sell them on Free or cheap sites on Facebook etc

There are loads on my local selling groups not selling.

Yes it's a business so you'd need to declare income etc and factor in postage/ customs costs etc.

Not sure why you'd be unreasonable though Confused

LemonadeRayGun · 15/10/2014 14:00

You would need to register as self employed in order to declare your income and pay the right tax etc if you are properly setting up a business. You need to think about the costs involved, are you posting items to your buyers or delivering them yourself / having them collected? What if they don't arrive, and you have to refund? What if something breaks after a week, will you refund the money?

But of course it isn't unreasonable to run a business where you buy stock and then sell it, that's what retail is! YABU if you intend to make an income and not pay tax.

Just be sure before you go any further that

a) they're not fakes
b) You'll actually get the stuff and this is not a scam
c) you know there's a market for them
d) you know how much the import taxes are - you may find that the profits suddenly don't seem so enticing.

Otherwise provided you pay your taxes etc YANBU

Would they be official Disney merchandise? If not, do you become liable for the safety of the items?

JerseySpud · 15/10/2014 14:16

Also alot of people have the same idea and buy off ebay anyway. I've seen people hounded off local for sale pages for trying to sell items they bought on ebay (which alot of the time do not have the same safety stamps as the uk imported toys) and selling them off for a massive profit.

Especially when people point out you can buy it yourself on ebay/amazon

Doesn't seem worth it then, thanks guys

THere are some particular frozen dolls on eBay from China wondering if any of you have seen? that have elsa Anna and Olaf inside the box for about £10 they are really cheap nasty plastic look very brittle they have huge eyes too and are defiantly not disney merchandise . I think the people that where bidding on these items were the people that where just desperate to get hold of a elsa doll as they were sold out everywhere . If you are going to do this please buy official items the stuff from china is just cheap and nasty and really not worth the money .
I've also noticed a lot of people selling Xmas baskets that have been out together with frozen items and wrapping paper on that are from the pound shop! And charging ridiculous prices for about £6 worth of stuff . Just because it has frozen on it doesn't mean it's worth more than it is
Sorry as u can see it annoys me lol (grin)

londonrach · 15/10/2014 16:08

Be careful. Remember the loom bands have problems being sold now due to chemicals in the fakes. I see them in the shops half price now. If later the cheap frozen items dont meet british toy standards and something comes loose and a child chocks on it are you liable? Just throwing that out for you to think of.
