Am a bit pissed off - have asked to return to work part time after mat leave with DD and now have been called in for a meeting to discuss. So far so good, but they've told me I will be paid as a KIT day. Does this mean they get me for the whole day?!? How can I point out that I'm still feeding twice during the day so can't leave him for a full day even tho they are kind of paying me to?! Don't want to prejudice the application and despite all the laws and regs my company isn't exactly modern about these things....!

You've had some great advice so I'm not sure if mine needs saying but in your email you are actually requesting that they only pay you for the duration of the meeting - don't do that - as others have said they probably pay half or whole days. Can you call them and ask how long you are expected to be in?

Why don't you just ring them? If you ae looking for some clarity, then this is the way to get it - you can ask any other questions you need Md also gauge the reaction of your manager etc, so you won't be second-guessing things.

"For KIT days you get paid for whole day regardless of actual time spent at work."

No you don't. Pay for KIT days is entirely negotiable between employer and employee. Some pay by the hour, some by half days, some top up SMP, others pay on top of SMP, etc etc

OP it doesn't sound as though there is any reason to think they are wanting or expecting you to hang around all day, and you're certainly not obliged to. But if you are concerned at all, just give your manager a ring.
