The reason why they sell them now (with best before dates of end of November at best - I checked) is because of the rules about price promotions. They can't "discount" them in the run up to Christmas unless they've been sold at "full" ie inflated price for several weeks before that.

Can't remember where I read this, I want to say it was Which? magazine in which case it ought to be half-reliable - OTOH, it might just have been somewhere random on the internet.

I hate mince pies, but I made mince pie cupcakes this weekend as a trial for Christmas and DH ate 5 in one sitting.

I've eaten 5 over the weekend. I bloody love a mince pie. YANBU.

YABU. It's October! I absolutely lurve mince pies and could stuff my face with them all day long,but I couldn't start eating them this early.
I'd be sick of the sight of them by December, and that takes away from the facts that mince pies are a sign of Christmas to me. Hardly confined to a Christmas treat if you can eat the bloody things all year round!

There are normally 6 in a pack. Yabu not saying where the other 3 are

I made my first ever successful batch of gluten free ones yesterday and have had 2 already today, I am eying up the box for another (thank god for todays 2 body pump classes). Dh has had 2 as well and cant tell the difference and I'm happy I now don't have to pay £2 plus for 4 in the shops

I omitted to tell you I shall be spending December away with work not anywhere that celebrates Christmas so I'm getting festive before I miss out totally! They were £1 for 4..one left can't eat it now can I?!

YABU, because October is all about pumpkin spice latte and halloween novelty sweets. As soon as halloween is over you can have mince pies, chocolate orange and hot chocolate with Bailey's in it...

we bought the Costco mince pies this week to try them out and they are pretty amazing sort of like a cross between a mince pie and a cake. they have all gone but one, but we did share with dad so not too bad

I love mince pies, best are homemade ones where the pastry goes crispy!
