Ive got something i dont need anymore and have offered it free on a famous site. I got emails say 'you have x i want'. no please, nothing else. One person was very rude when i emailed back asking if he could pick up today. The other five people i emailed back re yes its available can you pick up today at various times today haven't replied. This has been all day, with me replying to everyone. Ive removed said item now and will bin it as its electrical and not sure charity shops will take it. Just wanted someone who needed it to have it. Why cant someone just come and take it. It works and like new! I can even leave it downstairs if they want so they dont see me!

Me too!

My view is that you want this item from your home. Does it really matter how someone answers.

8 years ago now. His then flatmate had asked him to keep an eye out for some wicker chairs on freecycle. I had just bought a flat, previous owner had left two (ugly!) wicker chairs behind. I listed them on Freecycle. First person I offered them to was a no-show (hooray for freecycle tossers!). So I offered them to (now) DH. He came round to pick them up, we did flirty chatting on the doorstep for 5 mins.

The nice thing about Freecycle, of course, is you already have one another's contact details.

He texted me a thank you, I replied no problem, he said he fixed computers for a living and would be glad to fix mine as a thank you. I pointed out my computer wasn't broken. He suggested I break it Grin.

We moved in together 6 months later, had our DD 3 years ago, got married this year and are expecting DC2 in a few weeks.

So I'm a big fan of Freecycle!

I leave anything I want to give away at the end of the drive with a 'FREE' sign on it. Nearly everything goes within hours and I'm not even on a busy road. Anything metal goes really quickly. The people who sold us our house left half used cans of paint behind - the tip won't accept them so I left them on the drive and they all went within hours.

Nice stuff goes to the charity shop.
