To be annoyed with this parked car?

Nattynar · 10/10/2014 17:37

For the past 3/4 weeks, a man has been using our road to dump his car for days on end! I have no problem with even a car being parked daily because they are going to work, etc. But he literally dumps it, then gets into another car parked on the road and then clears off! So if it's not 1 car it's another. It moved briefly today, having not been touched since Monday! I thought perhaps it would be gone, but an hour later it's bloody back and he drove off in a 3rd car I've not seen before. I called 101, sadly the damn thing is taxed! So the only option is to advise the council that it's been dumped, or approach the guy! Sadly not brave or angry enough at the moment to do either. Why own a car that you never use, and don't have parking for!!

Is he actually blocking you in? Parking on a dropped curb etc or is he just legally parking and that's pissing you off?

Nattynar · 10/10/2014 18:27

He's not blocking me in as such. But it is making accessing my drive more difficult because my neighbour also parks a car the other side.

YABU. Unless he is actually parking across your drive then what on earth makes you so entitled?

Public roads are there to be parked on by anyone with a tax insured and MOT'd car.

Penfold007 · 10/10/2014 18:34

As the no tax disc thing has just started it's still worth just checking that he has tax, insurance etc. The behaviour described is a little suspicious and the OP did no harm in reporting it via 101. The Fenton couple should have dialled 999 or 112.

steff13 · 10/10/2014 18:35

If neither car is actually blocking your driveway, how is it affecting your access?

Nattynar · 10/10/2014 18:35

Fair enough, I shall start parking my car on the road then! Then I won't have a problem accessing my empty drive.

Op if you pay road tax of course you can park on any public road as long as not blocking driveway or on yellow lines..

ThatBloodyWoman · 10/10/2014 18:44

I think all the time you're spending on this may be better invested elsewhere.

magpiegin · 10/10/2014 18:53

Of course you can start parking on the road if you'd prefer!

GloriousGloria · 10/10/2014 18:55

He's got three lives, he originally only had two but now this third car has appeared he's acquired a new partner so has to have a different car for that one Smile

If none of this is true OP you should have no other interest Wink

Captainbarnacles1101 · 10/10/2014 19:02

It's obvious u aren't in Northern Ireland as it would have been blown up by now!!!
(Controlled explosion obviously......hides waiting on flaming Wink)

Derleth · 10/10/2014 19:04

Can you reverse in to your drive? That makes it a lot easier to get out if cars are parked near to, but not obstructing your drive.

3bunnies · 10/10/2014 19:06

I would have really confused you today. I parked car A, unloaded two dc, disappeared for half an hour. Returned in car B. Moved children from car B to car A. Just waiting for dh to return then going to go back in car A to pick up car B. All completely logical when you factor in collecting car B having to be collected from garage but not having enough car seats to then collect third dc from a club.

fizzymittens · 10/10/2014 19:39

I think that you are a bit strange for getting annoyed with an inanimate object to be honest.

Do you actually have a life?

BMW6 · 10/10/2014 19:55

I am another who is Confused - why is it bugging you so much? He's doing NOTHING WRONG!!!

fizzymittens · 10/10/2014 20:17

Also OP,you must be a weird curtain twitcher to notice the comings and goings of this poor man every time he parks his car.

Mouthfulofquiz · 10/10/2014 20:36

I can sort of see where the OP is coming from... Parking stuff does get annoying! Human beings get annoyed by things - Id love to know what perfectly legal things get all of the other poster's backs up. If it's nothing at all, then please share the secrets to achieving your perfect zen attitude!
What used to piss me off in my old house was the two local businesses using the street I lived in as a car park for big vans, minibuses, flatbed trucks etc. All perfectly legal but struck me as being inconsiderate to residents a bit.
When I decided to move house I drove around a lot of places during work times / school pick up times etc to spot any obvious annoyances - and ruled out a few streets for those reasons. But I still didn't know that my neighbours teenage son would keep coming home late at night with his music on so loud, shouting into his mobile phone... And his younger brother who has the screechiest voice of any living child. These are the latest things to make me mad. There's always something...

Nattynar · 10/10/2014 20:38

Looks like I don't have a life, just become SAHM and hate it! Sat in all day in living room looking out the window because day time tv sucks as does the internet, and pondering how the hell people do this long term!

Hard not to miss it when he's having a good look around it when I pull up!

OP posts:
Derleth · 10/10/2014 20:43

Aah, Natty, it'll pass, when you get out and about. It's strange what gets to us when we have a big change in routine that means we're home to notice the daily stuff.

fizzymittens · 10/10/2014 20:44

Can you get out and about a bit more OP? I agree that daytime tv is absolutely dire and have no idea how anyone can stomach it! Compared to that, gazing out of the window is preferable. Grin

Mouthfulofquiz · 10/10/2014 20:44

It's hard to adjust isn't it? I'm on mat leave at the moment and some days do drag like hell!

Kerberos · 10/10/2014 20:46

I don't think you are being unreasonable. If someone is making things awkward for you then you are bound to get pissed off by it. This is human nature.

Nattynar · 10/10/2014 20:52

I would have been too busy or tired to care one jot about this flaming car! But now I'm literally at home all day, and my table looks out to the front of the house! Have SPD and means I have to more or less rest. And when I do leave I want to not have to do a 3 point term to get out of the drive Smile

Perhaps I can blame the raging hormones!
