ok two recent examples. Last Chrismas production of Primary school. Date was in school diary. Dh arranged his appointments so he could make it home on time. Than maybe two weeks before date gets moved as it clashed with another event. Nothing to do with school. So clearly pushy parents had complained that their ds or dd couldn't possibly miss other event.
More recently my middle ds has been asked to change his swimming lessons as other parents wanted a different time. We have now had to change days completely to accomodate both boys. Not a huge problem of course. However, just find it odd. aibu

What you're describing certainly sounds unreasonable to me (i.e. YANBU, the school etc. are).

I have been in organizations where the minute someone complains the organizer starts looking to change dates/times/venues etc. If I have any clout on those ocassions I stop it in its tracks. It seems to happen when the person organizing is unused to handling conflict and too use to being in a junior position - thinking their job is to jump through hoops. It can take a while for them to realize they need to stand their ground, make enquiries of other stakeholders and take a more wholistic view of situation before making a reasoned decision on whether or not to change.

Cub xmas party could have been held the week before or after. As a guide leader we never planned much for the forst half of the autumn term - all the little ones in y6 would go to open evenings, and all the older ones would be demonstrating at the open evenings. School trumps other extra curricular.
