Headstands for toddlers

Sounds like a neurotic worry, but I'm concerned all the same.

My three-year-old son is doing headstands a lot. I have no idea where he got it from. My concern is that all his weight is on his head/neck.

I used to do lots of yoga, and was always taught to make a tripod out of my arms, and that a headstand was only safe if I could, at any point, lift myself up so that my head was off the floor and all the weight was on my forearms.

I always thought that it was important to have sufficient arm and shoulder strength, and to be able to tighten stomach muscles to hold up headstand.

However, I've also been told that I'm being ridiculous, young kids are flexible, and there's no way he could break his neck (my biggest fear) or create issues for his spine.

So, is it safe? He is putting all his weight his head, so neck, and I'm worried about his spine (and breaking his neck). He is very very active, and I don't want to hover, but I'd really like some advice as to whether or not I should let him do this.

If anyone knows a lot about this kind of thing, I'd really appreciate some advice!

I have come to the conclusion that kids are made of rubber. He'll be fine.
