To contemplate drugging the baby

DS, ten weeks, has slept for precisely eleven hours out of the last 36, plus a few ten minute catnaps. The rest of the time he has been eating. He's currently faffing around pretending to eat, but actually giving me cheeky grins and dribbling every time I look at him. If I deboob him though he goes into instant meltdown. He is also not looking remotely sleepy, whereas I am on my knees.. WHAT DO I DOOO???

When DD1 didn't sleep, we would ride the bus. I took a pillow and she was in her pram. We got on at home, stayed on, and got off when the bus came back home. I picked a route longer than an hour. Got to know the drivers well... Grin

If he geniuinely doesn't like the dummy this won't work, but way back when we got desperate with DS, we noticed that he seemed to like the dummy, but wasn't able to keep it in his mouth. So we, erhm, got a headband and put it on him over the dummy.. Which I in no way recommend unsupervised, buuut, it worked (and I know it doesn't sound very safe, but he could still breathe over the headband and it didn't move around)! Brilliant if you're pushing him around in the pram and it keeps falling out. After a while he got better at keeping it in his mouth and it wasn't needed anymore.

I think there are actually some products out there that sort of weigh down the dummies in a safer fashion, but I can't remember what they are called... Might be worth checking out though.

persevere with the dummy, mines 11 weeks and I introduced a dummy 2 weeks ago he wouldn't take it at first and was a bit confused/spitting it out etc but I found if I gently tap it while its in his mouth he eventually starts sucking. he settles so well now with it
