Parent and child parking spaces

Curiouslygrumpycola · 08/10/2014 14:06

I have just seen a smart car using a parent and child parking place. No child, no blue badge, a stream of people passing by tutting. Aibu to think they wanted to be featured on mumsnet?

If one tenth as much effort was put into holding the government to account as seems to go into policing parking spaces, the UK would be the best place to live in the world ...

Surely I'm not the only person who didn't look at where others are parking? Confused

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/10/2014 14:22

Doesn't not didn't

Curiouslygrumpycola · 08/10/2014 14:27

I don't normally notice, but my window was down and I heard a loud parent discussing bad parking with their knowledgable 5 year old Grin

There are only 6 massive spaces, so it looked quite funny sitting there. (Yes, it's been a slow day).

I've started to park really far back where there's nobody else. And every fucking time someone parks next to me. Why?!

hazeyjane · 08/10/2014 14:31

Maybe they were waiting for another smart car to squeeze in next to them, thereby economising on space!

They are aliens Ken, sent from another planet to enrage car owners, the energy given off is harnessed and returned to their planet as an alternative power source.

YABU to start another of these threads. They always cause ructions and clutter the board up. How do we ask for a specific topic? I think this would be a good idea.

LurkingHusband · 08/10/2014 14:39

KenAdams how do you know somebody "parks" there ? Cars have feelings too, you know. Maybe your car was lonely, and another car moved over to comfort them. Or your car moved next to them. Do you check the space is the same one you left them in ? Grin

SistersOfPercy · 08/10/2014 14:43

As you were

Sorry, I probably should have posted this in chat. Smile

Didn't want to start a new thread for this question but this seems an appropriate place to ask. I'm intrigued because I got involved in a similar debate on another website and was surprised at the comments:

Scenario: mum with 3 month old baby and 2 year old daughter goes to tesco to do weekly shop (usually goes alone or online but has to take kids on occasion). Wet day, all the parent and child spots are full but the disabled bays, over 20 in total are at least half empty

Is mum wrong to park in a disabled bay?

SauvignonBlanche · 08/10/2014 15:29

Oh FFS, I'd expected a bit longer before I could mark this on my P&C parking thread bingo card. Sad

Is mum wrong to park in a disabled bay?

Erm, let me think...

Yes, yes, yes!

KnackeredMuchly · 08/10/2014 15:36

People who are not disabled are always wrong to park in a disabled bay. Always.

KnackeredMuchly · 08/10/2014 15:38

KenAdams, people find it easier to park next to a car than an empty spot

hazeyjane · 08/10/2014 15:47

Is mum wrong to park in a disabled bay?

Hahahahahhahahaha.....

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/10/2014 15:55

Is disabled person wrong to slap mum round head with wet kipper if she parks there?

hazeyjane · 08/10/2014 15:59

...and park in a parent and child space whilst buying the kipper?

weeblueberry · 08/10/2014 16:00

Did you see someone walk out of the car without a child? I'm pretty sure children are allowed to be in Smart cars?

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 08/10/2014 16:00

Usually very wrong.

I do like the idea of cars moving to different parking spaces to comfort other cars though Grin

SistersOfPercy · 08/10/2014 16:00

But Fanjo, disabled person can't slap Mum because everybody knows that all disabled people either have one leg and/or are confined to a wheelchair so they wouldn't be able to slap the Mum.

Really? Tell me more ...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/10/2014 16:02

Ah yes you are right..I forgot

KraggleLego · 08/10/2014 16:02

DH does that ken , almost empty car park and he will squeeze into the space next to the only car there. Winds. Me. Up. When I tell him he's been a twat he huffs and puffs and parks in one of the other billion empty spaces.

Vintagejazz · 08/10/2014 16:04

If you're 85 and have had a double hip replacement and need to buy some hobnobs, can you park in a P&C space?
