I've left the washing on the line and now it's raining. Dh thinks I should re-wash it, am I being unreasonable to leave it out to dry tomorrow?

extra rinse.

HowsTheSerenity · 05/10/2014 21:34

It's an extra rinse.
If he wants it rewashed let him do it.

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 05/10/2014 21:35

YANBU. I leave mine out. My sister does too and she's SO houseproud it's not funny. My friend however things I am the world's biggest muck spreader for doing this.

Smoothyloopy · 05/10/2014 21:35

I have washing hanging in the rain tonight as well, it will dry tomorrow & will not be re-washed. Waste of electricity!

Dontlaugh · 05/10/2014 21:36

He thinks YOU should rewash it? Is that cos of your PhD in Washing Machine Technology (Hons)?

I've done this before.

The max a load has gone through is 2 lots of rain Shock

I put it out, it was nearly dry...started pouring down. So I left it overnight (as I didn't want to go down the garden and get wet).

The next morning it was dry and fine so thought i'd leave it out to dry again and then assess whether it needed re-washing. It was beautiful all day so would have dried completely, and then it started bucketing down 10 minutes before I left work.

Left it out again overnight. Another beautiful day the next day, so left it out again and had no more rain. I brought it in that evening.

It was just as clean and smelled just as fresh, even after 3 days on the line and two downpours.

AtrociousCircumstance · 05/10/2014 21:42

Two options: let it dry on the line, it's fine.

OR

DH re washes it, ensures it is appropriately dried, folds it all and puts it away.

His choice Grin

Bluestocking · 05/10/2014 21:42

It's a lovely rainwater rinse!

Pointlessfan · 05/10/2014 21:44

My mum says rainwater makes the washing softer. She also said it would make my hair soft though so it may have just been a cunning tactic to stop me complaining about the rain! I've never rewashed rained-on laundry though and it's always been fine.

ChippingInLatteLover · 05/10/2014 21:44

He's barking.

It's rainwater what does he think it's going to do?

What does he think gets used in the machine - Magic Liquid? It's WATER the big numpty.

...and yes, what's with 'he thinks YOU should re-wash it?' I'd be re-booting his arse for that alone... never mind being hard of thinking.

mawbroon · 05/10/2014 21:53

It rains that much here it would be like the bloody hokey cokey with all the in-out-in-out-shake-it-all-about if I were to take it in every time it rained!

Alizzle · 06/10/2014 00:09

I'm still up as it's pissing down and blowing like the old lad. Too late to get it in. I just hope it's still there in the morning. We live with mil and if I refuse to do his washing mil 'helps' him with it. We have the moon and he still struggles. Ho hum.

Oh and our washing machine smells like shite, any tips for getting it clean? It goes up to 60 degrees c.

YANBU. Rain is nature's fabric conditioner.

For the smelly washing machine, run it on a hot wash with washing soda crystals in the drum. It'll give it a good clean.

seasavage · 06/10/2014 00:19

'Nature's rinse' my ex housemate called it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/10/2014 02:06

There are scary people in Good Housekeeping who like nothing more than to tell other people how to sort out washing machines. I think some of them have Dont's PhD in Washing Machine Technology (Hons). Just do an advanced search.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 06/10/2014 03:18

I wouldn't re-wash.

tiredoldmum · 06/10/2014 03:21

Just leave it out. I have some out on the line in the rain right now.

If he wants it re-washed, he can do it.
