Not to be angry at dh...

For letting 7 month old ds eat a chocolate brownie? Or to be fair just a little bit of his one.

Should I have been annoyed about this? Or was I right to just raise an eyebrow at him and laugh?

The rest of the time ds has v healthy home made purees with lots of veg and nothing remotely like chocolate. However am sure if this had happened with pfb dd I would have said something more.

Chiiiiiiilllllllll out women. Lord knows there's a whole heap of stuff to stress out about as your children grow and eating the corner of a chocolate brownie sure ain't one of them.......lighten up lady!!!

WorraLiberty · 05/10/2014 21:26

YANBU not to be angry with him.

I can think of many many reasons to lose my cool, but that's just not one of them.

VermillionPorcupine · 05/10/2014 21:27

If it was a taste of one then I wouldn't be cross either. If it was a whole brownie, at 7 months, I would have been very, very upset.

Bulbasaur · 05/10/2014 21:28

Pssh.. I let mine taste a Popsicle at 4 months. She's still alive and healthy.

He's going to put worse things in his mouth as he gets bigger.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2014 21:29

chill out? really?

op is so chilled Ihad to find my wintercoat before replying...

Aherdofmims · 05/10/2014 21:30

Oh good. I didn't get upset, but then was worried that I was getting too laid back with ds and no good would come of it!

BobbyDazzler1 she says she's NOT angry with her DH, so maybe you should chill out?

Rainicorn · 05/10/2014 21:31

As long as it wasn't laced with anything extra Grin

Aherdofmims · 05/10/2014 21:32

Also I am only one woman last time I checked (maybe it's because I called myself a herd?)

Nah by 7 months my pfb had eaten chocolate and orange squash and homemade curry. He's now a two year old who will try anything and is only slightly obsessed with chocolate Smile

My friend dropped a chocolate button onto her boob as she was feeding her newborn and then crammed it into her mouth.

Aherdofmims · 05/10/2014 21:44

Dd was eating a cupcake as were her friends so was ok.

I ate my chocolate brownie to myself and it was a v nice one!

I thought it was funny that dh did this (I was talking to friend so didn't watch him do it) but wondered later if i am too laid back with him as my second.

This was posted with light hearted intent though.

DD2's first solid food was a chocolate biscuit.

She was 6mo. I had her on my knee, and I was eating the biscuit. She grabbed it from my hand and shoved it between her gums.

I was quite laid back about it, as well.

With PFB, however......

wheresthelight · 05/10/2014 21:53

surely you should ltb for such a flagrant disregard for correct parenting techniques!! Grin

to be fair my dd would steal pretty much anything off your plate at 7 months and shove it in her mouth before you had even realised it had happened (she is still as bad at 13 months). my sil was feeding her an egg custard tart at mail's funeral when dd was 10 weeks old so I am probably not the best person to respond as I just laughed and reminded sil that dd was lactose intolerant and she was on nappy duty for the rest of the day!

wheresthelight · 05/10/2014 21:55

mil not mail - autocorrect fail!

Aherdofmims · 05/10/2014 22:11

That's true I'd forgotten that ds currently won't allow you to eat anything without trying to grab it!

But I have drawn the line at a.bacon (a whole piece in a sandwich) or b. almond biscotti (rock hard). He does look very put out when you put something in your mouth without letting him grab it.

Ohhh yes, the "how dare you eat something without giving me the biggest bit of it" look - dd mastered that at about 8 weeks old and now she can bloody walk it's even worse cos now she follows me around - i swear she mirrors herself on the chucky dolls where food growls are concerned!

Asheth · 05/10/2014 23:05

My DS1 aged 8 months stole a load of liqorish allsorts. DH and I thought it was hilarious and took photos of the liquoish dribbling down his chin! MIL was not amused!

wheresthelight · 05/10/2014 23:18

ash Aww bless him! I haven't let dd try them yet but she did steal dsd's cola bottle tub today and manage to get the lid off it and was found in the hallway giggling away to herself whilst shovelling her face full of the contents.

Aherdofmims · 06/10/2014 02:51

How did licorice affect his poo?

Idontseeanysontarans · 06/10/2014 08:02

None of mine ever pinched food off us, they had this Look instead. They wouldn't make a noise but they would stare at the food and then you intently until you felt so uncomfortable you had to hand some over!
Consequently DD1's first taste of solids was pizza after she stared out her brother and DD2's was chocolate ice cream Grin
YANBU. A bit of Brownie will not harm at all.
