by moving baby into 4 year old dc's room?

Baby is nearly eight months old. Sometimes baby wakes at two am in the morn. Sometimes five. After quick feed baby will go back to sleep. We live in two bed house and the children will be sharing. Should I take the plunge and move baby into other room and risk disturbing dc1 or keep baby in with us? If the latter for how long before I put the siblings together?

Any advice much appreciated.

I wouldn't until baby is sleeping through the night, unless your 4 year old is a very deep sleeper and won't be disturbed.

It's amazing how they learn to sleep through anything when they are sharing.

Try it. If it doesn't work, move the baby back in with you. Personally I left it until DC2 was sleeping through, ish, at 11 months, but that was all about me not wanting to get out of my nice warm bed in the middle of the night to feed him. DC have slept through much worse than a feed and change, and they are not heavy sleepers in general.

I think you should trial it first, but I put DD1 in with DS when they were 2.2 and 3.9, worked like a charm. DD1 woke very occasionally before they shared, but as soon as she shared with DS she hardly woke at all. They shared for about a year and a half with no problems. When DD2 was about 20 months and DD1 was 3 years eight months they started sharing a room. Until then DD2 woke in the night only once or twice a week but for hours at a time. I was very unsure about them sharing, but after some time I bit the bullet and it was the best thing I did; she woke once the first night, asked to see DD1, I lifted her out of her cot so she could see her, she smiled, pointed at her cot then promptly fell asleep for the rest of the night, after having only been awake for a few minutes, which was unheard of! She did that several more times over the next week or two and that was it, night wakings were a rarity after that!
