to not shave my legs for ds' s swimming lesson

I don't have time. I'm too uncomfortable (pregnancy) and busy with him but I do have to go in with him. Is the wooly mammoth look acceptable in October?

I never shave mine. if someone else doesn't like to look at them I consider it their problem, not mine. don't worry about it for a moment

Not only acceptable but desirable. Nobody will notice and if they do, who cares? Enjoy the swim.

I just try to get in the water as quickly as possible. Hoping no one else gets close enough to notice. I wouldn't look at anyone else too closely either

I never look at other people in the swimming pool full stop, never mind their legs.
I'm going in half an hour & couldn't be bothered shaving as well Grin

Of course YANBU. If someone cares about your hairy legs then that's a bit sad for them really isn't it?

I have stopped shaving well not entirely but it doesn't bother me anymore I find it quite liberating and found since I stopped shaving every other day my legs dont seem as hairy (if that makes sense)

Of course YANBU. It obviously doesn't bother you. If it bothers other people then that's their problem not yours!

One of the mums in our group wears leggings sometimes, I am guessing it's when she can't be bothered/too busy/too tired to wax/shave.

You wouldnt be asking if you dint think you should shave them. So you are obviously uncomfortable with the woolly mammoth look - your words not mine.

Do you notice if other people haven't shaved?

I epilate rather than shave, but quite often leave my legs if I can't be arsed; if it's something up close that will be noticed then I tend to do it - but tbh I am spectacularly unbothered.

If your hairy legs really are bothering you and the bump is making it difficult, then get waxed during your pregnancy - saves you from woolly mammoth worries!

Well I wouldn't want to go into the swimming pool with my legs hairy.

But, if you don't mind, it's up to you.

So, although it's not what I (or many people I imagine) would do, YANBU. You don't have to live your life by what's expected.

And what if other mums do scrutinise your legs, Feten - hairy legs are not the sign of a moral failing, or neglect, they are just your natural legs.
There's no need for it to mean anything unless you want it to.
I have 6 scars, 10-14 inches long, across both legs from a bad accident. I stopped worrying about shaving when, 6 months later, I could be hoisted in the pool.

I'm too shortsighted to notice if you've shaved your legs or not. Even in my prescription googles I really won't notice.

My legs got the most perfunctory de-fuzz with the electric razor last time I went with the DDs. I have very hairy legs, no way were they 'shaved, smooth and lovely'

I go swimming a few times a week and never bother shaving. Legs, pits or anywhere else.

I shave my legs about three times a year.

I was going to wax my legs yesterday for DS's first swimming lesson. I overheated the wax and spilled it on my hand. I spent the afternoon in A&E and am back again now to have my scalded hand dressed. I'll be hairy this afternoon!

OP, unless you've got so much leg hair that it's dragging you down or other people are getting caught in it like pondweed as they swim past, I think you're alright not to shave! Grin

They're your legs, shave or not, it is up to you.
It's no-one elses business but yours and if anyone cares, feel sorry for them that they have nothing better to occupy their minds.
Have a nice swim with your ds. When I was pregnant, the swimming pool was the only place I was comfortable.

Don't make yourself feel more uncomfortable. Other mums will be getting jealous because they wish they had the guts to go out with hairy legs
