To think you stick with what has been arranged first?

Ok petty one but want to see what others think.

Me and DP are sitting in the house doing nothing, we were supposed to be going the trafford centre today but our other friend cancelled so it's been rearranged.

As we are both doing nothing I suggested to partner that we go shopping locally, they said yes and wanted to go also.

20 mins later partner gets asked to go watch the football and so now wants to do that instead. I've told them to go but said that I'm upset that I've basically been fucked off and left in the house with the baby while they go out after we have already arranged to do something together.

Partner argues that it's only shopping and can be rearranged and that they wanted to watch the football but had no one to go with until after we had arranged to go out.

If when I asked about going out they said no because they wanted to watch the football that would be fine, I just think you stick with what has been arranged first and feel like I've been shoved aside because a better offer has come up.

How would other people feel in the same situation?

You've hit the nail on the head there username, it's the dependence on her that bothers me because when plans change I'm stuck.

We have looked into a second car but as we are both new drivers (and she likes to rack up speeding points but that's a whole other thread lol) our insurance is crippling us just on one car. £140 a month is daylight robbery!

It's a long term plan though!

That was selfish of her.

And stropping and mardying is deeply unattractive. As is that emotional blackmail bullcrap of oh I won't go now (you're the bad guy spoiling my fun waah waah)

Perhaps have a chat about how things could work better in future. Leaving you without transport if there is an alternative is not on.

I know it is a faff, but was it not an option for you to drop them off? At least you'd have been left with the car.

And the friend - was this last minute invite more about getting a taxi service themselves? [cynical]

Vitalstatistix · 27/09/2014 14:04

x post - and she needs to sort that out too, before she gets so many she's banned. As a new driver, they take your licence and make you take your test again for stuff like that. I think it's 6 points within 2 years.

She needs to be more responsible.

LadyLuck10 · 27/09/2014 14:08

In this instance I wouldn't blame your partner. Shopping with a baby on a Saturday is a nightmare.

Username12345 · 27/09/2014 14:10

because when plans change I'm stuck.

That's it.

If you could get out and about maybe it wouldn't have bothered you as much.

If partner is off out I usually go for a massage, or a mani/pedi or go to the cinema or go window shopping if pay days not here. Or you could go to the park with your child. Or ring up a friend/family member.

But sounds as though your stuck.

What about 1 of these.

Ha ha loving the bike suggestion! You clearly havnt seen the size of my arse!

She has 6 speeding points now but 3 were just after passing for 2 years so apparently it's ok. That and the write off she had last year means insurance is very expensive! Plus I've only been driving a year.

We do need to look at how things are going to work in the future though, it's horrible being stuck in with no transport, no money, no milk for a brew ???? and no family locally because we live away from them all.

This thread has really helped me realise I'm over dependant on her though so will help a lot moving forward.

Maybe agree in future that the one with the baby automatically gets the car. The singleton with no baby/pram/carseat/routine worries then has to be the one who gets themselves around the place.

Aherdofmims · 28/09/2014 02:11

I think she should have left the car.
