To be annoyed at everyone who uses the parent and toddler parking who shouldn't?

I am prepared to be told I am being a twat, but it's really bugging me.

So many people get angry (quite rightly so) at people who are not disabled using disabled parking spaces. However it seems so many more people use the parent and toddler spaces who really shouldn't.

The signs variously state
-for parents with children under 5
-for parents with children in pushchairs etc

Why do I see people park with their children who then jump out and walk off without a pushchair, it drives me mad, especially when I am struggling with a 6 month old and limited space to open her car door or get a pushchair remotely close enough!

They can't have increased that much in the last few years. It wasn't that long ago I had babes in arms.

Rainicorn · 24/09/2014 21:56

I don't get why parents with babies in car seats need to out said spear seat onto a pram/buggy/stroller at a supermarket when you can use a trolley. Always struck me as odd. But that's another thread.

Rainicorn · 24/09/2014 21:57

Said car seat

Blasted iOS 8

maddening · 24/09/2014 21:59

They have where I live - I am surrounded by 4x4s and those super size 4x4 hybrid types (no clue on names ) and shit parkers who park on the line etc have had to get dc out in v tight spots.

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:00

I don't either Rainicorn. When the trolleys have little seats in them for babies. Far more convenient. I tried the car seat thing in a trolley once, it was a real faff.

Delphiniumsblue · 24/09/2014 22:01

I would solve the entire problem by putting them on the same side of the road as the shop doors( so no need to cross the car park) but in a far corner. They just need a wider space to open the doors- that is all. People wouldn't then want to take them if they didn't need to open the doors.
When mine were young we didn't have them anyway and we coped!

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:03

Still don't really get that though maddening. Yes those cars are around here too, but as long as I parked properly in the space I could still get in, even with one of those monster cars either side of me. I've never had a problem. Sure, sometimes a little bit tight, but always doable, without even whacking my door on to the other car.

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 24/09/2014 22:04

Yanbu

More recently I notice it's children without children, not even with a car seat and being fat and lazy doesn't count either, nor being old

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:04

Love a good old parent and child parking thread.

Now what about cats poo blinding innocent toddlers. Grin

It's a conspiracy I tell you.

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:06

Dirty old cats thebody. People should be forced to buy a yearly license for them, and pick up their poo. Smile

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:06

its children without children

Confused
DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:07

Children are driving cars Shock Thats just not right. How the heck can they afford it?

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:07

I agree dancing I kick old people and drive while pissed as a fart too.

All of a piece.

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:08

Ahh, benefits I expect. That'll be it.

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:09

Oh, I love kicking old people. So much fun, especially when they're not expecting it.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 24/09/2014 22:09

There were no Child spaces when I had mine. I used to go to top of car park which was empty, park the car, get the double buggy out, put the kids in, get in the lift and go to the supermarket. And whenever humany possible I went shopping sans enfants.

It still annoys me to queue behind a car who is waiting for a space on a lower level rather than going to the top where there will be spaces.

pinkpeoniesplease · 24/09/2014 22:13

I have a five month old and rarely use P&C as they're surely more useful to parents with mobile children likely to bolt...

Selinemaratima · 24/09/2014 22:14

My issue us about designation - I get equally F'D off when I see ppl using disabled spaces when not disabled, the issue is not whether people can manage with or without P&C spaces, it's the fact that they are there for parents with children, I have often walked/pushed buggy & trolley/transferred sleeping babies to trolley - to buggy - to shoulder etc for me it's just the simple consideration, - like : give your seat up on the bus, pick up the dog poo, park where you're entitled to, form a Que, be courteous, be kind - all the things I'm teaching my babies every day etc Wink = nice world Grin hopefully!

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:15

Stop it dancing serious parents here. We will be thrown off the thread.

Now it's off to take the dog for a walk so he can shit in the parent and child space.

The cat has already shat in next doors toddlers sand pit.

Old people just beware. You never know when the blow will fall.

My work here is done. Grin

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:16

Oh and wearing a white dress to a wedding on Saturday and a bright red dress to a funeral on Sunday.

I mean why shouldn't i?

Mintyy · 24/09/2014 22:17

How touching that DancingDinosaur and TheBody have found each other on this thread.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 24/09/2014 22:18

Serious note.

Disabled spaces should not be compared to parent and child spaces.

They are totally different.

Delphiniumsblue · 24/09/2014 22:22

Disabled spaces are necessities whereas parent/child ones are just quite pleasant as an extra, but no big deal if you can't find one.

DancingDinosaur · 24/09/2014 22:23

[thebody] Grin. Have fun on your walk. Be sure to post back with your adventures Wink
