To consider becoming a masseuse

I currently work in a decent job which unfortunately does not pay well. I saw an ad for a masseuse which apparently pays £200 per day. I am aware of the nature of the work but I am seriously considering it regardless. Am I mad to even think about it? Has anyone else had experience of this type of work? Any opinions gratefully received. Thanks

Lying we can assume the OP doesn't mean that kind of massage...from her wording surely?

No but you can be registered, Aga. To call an untrained person who broadly 'diversify' into goodness knows what as a 'masseuse' is annoying in the same way that, let me think - calling a week-long girlfriend of your ex a 'stepmother' or 'mother' would be. Not illegal no, but bloody annoying. Angry

MrsWinnibago... I hadn't realised from the OP. Leaped in, thought it was a kindred spirit... not so. :(

You are not going to get £200/day unless you are providing sexual services.

I pay £60 for an hour long massage. All above board and no funny business I hasten to add! If a massage therapist / masseuse can charge that, why shouldn't they earn around £200 a day, assuming for example that they work out of their own home / go to clients home (like Return to Glory) have some other way of getting rid of overheads.

Doesn't seem beyond the bounds of possibility to me....

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/09/2014 12:51

That's what I meant, as per HandMini's post. If I wanted to get back to it, I could easily earn more than £200 per day with a regular client base for legitimate, non-sexual massage. It's hard word but I had a core of steel back then. It's an incredible workout in itself.

I'm sure plenty of legitimate massage therapists make well over £200 per day. But I get the impression the OP is talking about the other kind.

" I am aware of the nature of the work but I am seriously considering it regardless."

This comment suggests that it is a "happy ending" type of job rather than an actual massage therapist. I am a qualified massage therapist too and if I could have worked a full 7h day (I can't, it was too physically demanding and my back couldn't take it) I could have earnt £200+ gross easily, but then there's tax and room rental and I was self-employed. I suppose there are places that actually employ massage therapists in a legit fashion, but still there's that comment...

AgaPanthers · 19/09/2014 13:27

You could get £200+/day working self-employed, yes. But OP is responding to an ad, which means that she is going to be employed which implies a gross of £500+, which = sex.

My friend is a proper masseuse and earns at least £50 per hour.

She does a lot of sports massage and works part time at a dance school, so gets her hands on lots of gorgeous, fit young men. Envy

But she's highly trained and extremely fit.

OP - if you have physical stamina and are willing to do the training, sports and therapeutic massage is a great job, and you don't have to touch old men's cocks!

AgaPanthers · 19/09/2014 13:41

Meh, my friend does sports massage and while she might charge £50/hour she has to rent the room, do advertising, isn't always booked up, etc. It's not easy.
