I think I'd be more concerned about tomorrow than today.

And Edinburgh is a pretty civilised city, so don't worry.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/09/2014 14:19

It will probably be OK tonight since the polls are still open and the results won't be out until tomorrow morning. I'd be more worried about tomorrow night.

mrscumberbatch · 18/09/2014 14:20

Edinburgh I'm not worried about, Glasgow is another story...

MrsBungle · 18/09/2014 14:20

I think edinburgh will be fine.

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 14:22

And what exactly are you worried about???

flipperkipper · 18/09/2014 14:28

Polls close at 10pm and the result is not due until at least 6am. Tomorrow night there will be some partying going on in bars and houses and there may be some lively discussions in those places. Trouble in the streets is no more likely than a usual Saturday night. In any case, assuming DD is an adult I am sure she can keep herself safe.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/09/2014 14:28

It will totally be fine. And will be fine tomorrow as well.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 18/09/2014 14:29

Edinburgh and Glasgow will both be absolutely fine. May I point you to the Scottish Police Federation press release
www.spf.org.uk/2014/09/spf-media-release-independence-referendum-2/

"As I have previously stated the referendum debate has been robust but overwhelmingly good natured.

It was inevitable that the closer we came to the 18th of September passions would increase but that does not justify the exaggerated rhetoric that is being deployed with increased frequency. Any neutral observer could be led to believe Scotland is on the verge of societal disintegration yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Scotland’s citizens are overwhelmingly law abiding and tolerant and it is preposterous to imply that by placing a cross in a box, our citizens will suddenly abandon the personal virtues and values held dear to them all.

At this time it is more important than ever that individuals be they politicians, journalists or whoever should carefully consider their words, maintain level heads and act with respect. Respect is not demonstrated by suggesting a minority of mindless idiots are representative of anything. One of the many joys of this campaign has been how it has awakened political awareness across almost every single section of society. The success enjoyed by the many should not be sullied by the actions of the few."

I'm with you OP. I'd have an earlyish curfew if DD is young enough for such things.
