A trivial aibu in many ways but..........I am someone who lots of people turn to when they need help/advice etc and Im hapy to give it. One particular friend does this a lot and is quite self absorbed. Tonight however she was frantic that her son year 5 has been put into a 'ridiculously easy' maths group for his ability and she doesn't know what to do about it. Now this 'ridiculously easy' maths group is the one my son is in. I am a little bit annoyed at the rant about how distressing it is for her son as he is well above this level . Am I being unreasonable though as at the end of the day he could well be way above my son but seriously am I expected to help /sympathise whilst she is basically being very negative about my childs ability ( who is probably in the correct group)

Yanbu she definitely is self absorbed as had she spared a thought, she would have realized not to bring this issue to you.

Or perhaps she is finally having to face the truth that her ds isn't the genius she thought he was?

Anyway YANBU how bloody insensitive of her! Hardly a big deal he will be moved groups if necessary can't see why she's got her knicker in a twist.

She sounds like a plonker to me, and she clearly has an unrealistic view of her son's abilities. I'm a teacher, and deciding groups takes a lot of time and planning. There'll be a good reason for his placement.

YANBU. I would take offence
